Job Description and Duties

STAFF MANAGEMENT AUDITOR (SPECIALIST) - HEADQUARTERS / AUDITS OFFICE / CONCESSIONS, CONTRACTS, SPECIAL REQUESTS The reporting location for this position is 715 "P" Street, Sacramento, CA 95814. This position will work under the general direction of the Supervising Management Auditor. This hybrid-centered position offers flexible work schedule opportunities and will have professional certification opportunities. The Department of Parks and Recreation Audits Office seeks to hire a qualified and motivated Staff Management Auditor (SMA) (Specialist) SCO. The SMA Specialist will work under the direction of the Supervising Management Auditor independently performing the more difficult or complex audits and may act as a lead to a group of auditors who perform complex or large employer audits and special assignments directed by the Audit Chief. The SMA Specialist assists the Manager/Supervisor in leading and providing general direction to audit staff to ensure that objectives are achieved, quality assured, and audit staff is developed. The SMA Specialist performs audit work in accordance with applicable State policies and procedures, Audits Office policies and procedures, and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF). The incumbent must exercise good judgment working independently or in a team environment. This position requires direct contact with management representatives on a routine basis. The incumbent must have knowledge of accounting and auditing principles, standards, and practices; research and information gathering techniques; function, organization, and practice of California government. An in-depth understanding of the International Professional Practices Framework promulgated by the Institute of Internal Auditors; Government Auditing Standards; and other standards of the profession is required. The incumbent must have the ability to apply the standards within the form and format prescribed by the Audits Office and requires the ability to use audit software. This position is a Designated Position per the Conflict-of-Interest Code and is required to complete and submit a Form 700, Statement of Economic Interest annually, upon assuming office and when leaving office. This position requires a valid California Class C Driver's license. Training and Development Assignments may be considered. State housing is not available.
