You will be responsible for all financial records/statements for all AGCS companies in North America in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, statutory requirements, international accounting standards and established formats. You are also responsible for all local compliance with Group Accounting Standards and act as liaison for external auditors and the Departments of Insurance. You will provide vision and direction to the accounting team.

The role itself

Strategy and Execution

Develop strategy for own area of responsibility in alignment with Global functional and regional goals

Define clear and challenging targets, set priorities, monitor progress and address performance issues appropriately and effectively, empowering employees to execute tasks independently.


Drive organizational set up for own area of responsibility, including personnel selection and managing budget within plan.

Coach and develop employees in order to develop and improve the overall team.

Foster behavior of team members as desired according to AGCS standards (e.g., behavioral goals, etc.) and live up to the matrix organization.

Performance and Reporting

Financial closing for tax, regulatory and internal reporting requirements for functional area of responsibility.

Reporting of accounting related figures for internal and external requirements.

Balance sheet management and closing

Ensure reconciliation of intercompany transactions between AGCS legal entities and AGCS SE companies.

Monitor and present the results for respective area of responsibility, highlighting areas of concern.

Ensure data quality with closing process (reconciliation of figures with feeder systems).

Collaboration and Engagement

Foster cross-functional collaboration across the business to enhance overall business understanding through the value chain in addition to alignment and coordination with other CFO Colleagues.

Ensure compliance of reporting in line with regulatory and internal reporting requirements (including corporate guidelines, rules and principles, as well as adherence to authority levels).

Interface with Key Stakeholders

External auditors (e.g., KPMG).

Local Regulator's contact in relation to financial reporting (e.g., CA & IL DOI, OSFI in Canada).

Key contact for GAC, AGCS SE and other 3rd parties (e.g., tax authorities, state authorities).

Support finance function with other ad-hoc projects.

Desired Skills and Experience

Managerial accounting experience with in-depth knowledge and expertise in Property and Casualty insurance industry accounting techniques.

Experience in producing and analyzing financial statements with exposure to budgeting, reporting and business analysis.

Strong leadership skills including setting vision, establishing priorities, and developing people with experience in leading teams in a complex, professional environment in addition to leading staff through change.

Comprehensive knowledge of

IFRS accounting, tax, and other requirements.

US Statutory accounting and other regulatory requirements;

ICOFR/Sox/Other financial controls

Insurance financial statements and performance management.

Excellent communication and presentation skills with an ability to convey complex financial information clearly and effectively with respect to level and audience

Strong process and project management skills with ability to;

drive organizational change.

Ability to navigate complexity, respond to ambiguous situations, and anticipate and resolve issues

Strong influencing skills

MBA preferred and CPA Required
