SUMMARY
Gann Academy, an innovative Jewish independent high school in Waltham, MA, seeks an experienced Marketing and Communications Manager (MCM) to lead the strategy and execution of all marketing and communications efforts. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional writer, proficient in digital and print marketing, keen eye for detail and design, and possess experience in customer acquisition. To be successful in this position, the MCM will either need to understand the dynamics of marketing for a Jewish pluralistic high school or be able to quickly learn the educational and Jewish content required to succeed. This position will support the development office and be a central hub for all internal and external communications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Team Management:
Lead and manage the small Marketing Team, fostering a collaborative environment, ensuring clarity on goals and responsibilities, and providing guidance and support to achieve the department’s objectives.
Interdepartmental Collaboration:
Manage the marketing and communications calendar for the Admissions and Development and Events departments.
Content Creation and Writing:
Quickly learn elements of the school program and be able to turn around excellent written and social media content.
Digital and Print Marketing:
Manage and implement all aspects of digital and traditional marketing, including email newsletters, social media, direct mail, handouts, posters, print invitations, and other print, graphic, or social media content.
Email Marketing and Audience Segmentation:
Oversee and implement all communications through Constant Contact, including developing, scheduling, and analyzing email campaigns. Build and manage segmented lists to ensure targeted, effective communication strategies that resonate with various audience groups.
School Website:
Implement all aspects of Gann’s website, including updates, optimization, and landing page content.
Manage Constant Contact Database and Communications:
Implement parent, student, alumni, and external newsletters, manage the Constant Contact database, and ensure high-quality content.
Publications:
Responsible for producing the annual Impact Report, Course Catalog, and other publications as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES/SKILLS
Writing:
Must be an excellent writer who can synthesize content from multiple sources quickly and effectively.
Communications:
Strong ability to communicate with school representatives, parents, students, alumni, donors, and business community representatives.
People and Project Management Skills:
Must have strong experience managing teams and excellent interpersonal skills.
Graphic Design:
Exposure to Adobe Creative Suite tools (including Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop) and Canva.
Technical Skills:
Experience with social media marketing and familiarity with online marketing strategies.
Time Management:
Must be responsive, flexible, and capable of meeting deadlines while producing high-quality work. Must be willing to work some nights and weekends.
Innovation & Entrepreneurship:
Always seeking ways to expand current thinking, implement new ideas, and improve outcomes.
Collaboration:
Thrive in a fast-paced, lean team environment, contributing as needed to ensure success.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
B.A. degree in business, marketing, public relations, or a related field and at least five years of relevant experience in a non-profit environment.
Experience in content production, photography, and video is a plus.
Experience in educational or Jewish organizations is valued but not required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Will supervise Marketing Team members.
Language Skills
Must be proficient in English to carry out work as assigned.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands include dexterity for office machine/supply operation, including but not limited to computers, telephones, copy machines, and printers. Stooping, bending, and reaching for files or supplies, occasionally lifting up to 20 pounds, and sitting or standing for extended periods are common. May work in varied extreme outside weather conditions during special activities and fundraising events.
