Job Description:
SUMMARY
Managesthe Systems Administrator team in EAS while also administering and supportingadministrative and academic applications across the College. Responsible for coordinating team activities,ensuring team deadlines are met, and installing, upgrading, maintaining andsupporting both administrative and academic applications, including theirrespective database and server environments. Participates in technicalstrategic planning sessions to ensure that the College is well positioned forthe future. Works closely with institutional units to determine futureapplication needs and increase effective usage of existing platforms.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS Manages Systems Administration operations and staff including scheduling and assigning work, coaching, and assessing performance Leads the completion of unit goals, objectives and expectations Leads cross-training efforts to ensure support continuity throughout the team Provides analysis, consultation, and recommendations to Systems Administrators as necessary Monitors, maintains, and optimizes the performance of all associated server environments (Windows, Linux, etc.), including disaster recovery instances, as necessary Responds to, investigates, and resolves issues reported by end-users for supported applications, the associated backend databases, and all interfaced applications Acts as primary liaison to the associated vendor HelpDesk for issue resolution Applies software/security patches and performs application upgrades to existing systems Designs, configures, and installs new server environments, including application software, middleware platforms (Weblogic, Tomcat, etc.), and database backends, as necessary Develops and maintains the necessary troubleshooting documentation Updates associated application architecture diagrams as changes are made Develops and maintains scripts (shell, perl, batch, etc.) as necessary Provides non-business hour support to resolve application issues or complete application migrations/upgrades as necessary Identifies and evaluates new tools and solutions for improved application and server management Ensures disaster recovery testing is completed bi-annually Performs capacity planning (disk, memory, etc.), as well as short-term and long-term upgrade planning Assists with the preparation of monthly K.P.I. metrics and recommendations for ITS leadership to facilitate management decisions Performs other duties as assigned REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATIONAND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
Bachelor's Degree in I.T., Computer Science, or related field
Significant related experience may substitute for education
Minimum of six years of full-time professional IT experience Demonstrated experience with Windows Server (2012, 2016, etc.) and various Linux flavors (RedHat, Oracle for Linux, CentOS, etc.) Demonstrated experience with relational databases (Oracle, MS SQL, etc.) Demonstrated experience supervising, planning, assigning, scheduling and ensuring the quality of the work of others Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team Demonstrated effectiveness in a role requiring dynamic and abstract problem solving methods in adaptive situations KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS and ABILITIES
