Fleet Safety Coordinator (Telematics)

General Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Safety and collaborating closely with the Safety & Technical Training Manager and Fleet Manager, the incumbent will play a pivotal role in our safety operations. This position involves daily engagement with our Safety Management System (SMS), monitoring dash cam videos to assess driver safety, administering safety training, and ensuring compliance. A detail-oriented individual with a robust technological background and effective communication skills will thrive in this role.
Principal Accountabilities:
Review fleet dash cam footage to identify and escalate issues related to safe driving practices. Provide coaching and communication to employees/drivers, emphasizing DOT Driver Qualification (DQ) file maintenance. Conduct coaching sessions for driving safety performance improvement through various channels, including text, web, phone, and in-person communication. Collect, maintain, and analyze data related to driving and training programs. Prepare and present periodic reports on program effectiveness, process, and quality to management. Track and report metrics on driver safety and training certifications for Mechanical and Electrical divisions. Communicate non-compliance issues through our driver safety system. Communicate follow-up actions with employees regarding corrective measures related to safety events. Collaborate with Safety Leaders, Fleet Manager, and Operations Leaders to address significant safety events. Assist the Training Manager in administering Safety Management System training courses. Coordinate training events as needed, ensuring accurate record-keeping. Facilitate the identification and repair of defective dash cam devices as directed by the Fleet Manager. Handle additional responsibilities assigned, such as fleet and safety-related program management (e.g., MVR and DOT Compliance). Performs other duties/special projects as assigned. Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Previous experience with dash cam monitoring and administering DOT Driver Qualifications is preferred. Familiarity with OSHA DOT is advantageous but not mandatory. Proficient in Learning Management Systems (LMS), Safety databases (SMS), Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe, and Video Conferencing is preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work effectively within a team, demonstrating attention to detail and commitment. Experience in compliance and/or safety within the construction, utility, or transportation industries is preferred. An Occupational Safety & Health Degree is preferred.
