SENIOR APPLICATION ENGINEER
Setpoint Systems is a leader in our field. We are a highly respected and awarded company specializing in building automation systems and we are growing! We’re doing work for military and specialized locations, as well as businesses of all types and sizes - from smaller schools and offices, to 20-megawatt data centers and hospitals and high rise office buildings.
As a member of the Engineering department, you will be a key contributor on projects with support from your coworkers and managers. We are looking for a new team member who has a desire to collaborate with teammates and a structured and orderly approach to work. We are making massive moves to grow the business and want to add new members to team who are focused on success, like change and can show versatility in a supportive environment. A key part of successful engineering is the flow of information - engineers should have strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to take a poised and friendly approach to working with internal coworkers and external customer representatives.

Responsibilities
Design
HVAC temperature control systems
Lighting and access controls systems
Responsible for projects, start to finish, with kickoff, submittal drawings, 30% 90% and closeout
Responsible for independently designing complex projects
Focus on design to add or improve the energy conservation
Controls for HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, air handling units, heat recovery and terminal units
BAS system design for HVAC, Lighting and Access control systems using the Delta Controls
Analysis and Estimation
Prepare cost estimates for control systems for commercial, industrial and institutional HVAC systems
Design/build budgeting
Energy utilization conservation calculations
Manage labor budget
Complete re-estimation, RFI, and change orders
Communication
Work with customers to collect the key information needed to ensure the finished design meets their needs, as well as helping them understand options and benefits from the finished systems.
Learn from coworkers to increase knowledge of technical and design information and participate in training other departments on pertinent matters
Collaborate with account managers on construction estimates and proposal writing
Regularly update your manager of progress, concerns, and encumbrances,
Training and Development
Study and use our robust internal resources including training materials, previously created designs, specific training classes and modules, and vendor training classes and materials
Gain or maintain expert knowledge of our Delta product line and equipment including BACnet protocols and associated controls devices
Collaborate with expert coworkers and managers on increasingly complex and challenging projects
Desired Qualifications include:
BS in mechanical engineering strongly encouraged, and/or 10+ years’ experience in building control systems and/or equivalent HVAC knowledge
Advanced knowledge of HVAC and product and systems equipment and specs
Working knowledge of DDC, electric and pneumatic control systems
Analytical and organizational skills
Willingness to contribute to a team-oriented environment
Excellent leadership, communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration in a professional setting
Preferred Credentials:
LEED GA/AP
CEM
PE and association with ASHRAE
Job Parameters
On site position - we have offices in Littleton, south of Denver, and in Colorado Springs. This position may be based in either office.
