Singer Valve National Sales Manager

Mueller, the nation's leading manufacturer of flow control devices for the water and gas distribution industries, has an immediate opening in our Singer Valve team for a National Sales Manager. This position, which can be located near any major city with airport access, will oversee the Singer Valve U.S. and Canada control valve sales and will lead a team of Application Engineers in the support of growing Singer Valve sales. This role will report to the Vice-President, OEM, Contractor, and Rep Network Sales.
This role will be responsible for driving initiatives and supporting Singer Valve sales via our manufacturer rep network, distributors and end users while working in conjunction with the Singer Regional Managers. Duties include but are not limited to:
Executing the commercial strategy for the Singer control valve product line while providing feedback and ways to improve growth.
Leading a team of Application Engineers to oversee quotations duties, provide technical assistance on products to company and customers.
Being the voice of customer for projects such as new product development, existing product modification/ upgrades, new product pricing, and sales training, both internally and externally.
Other functions would include:
Work with sales team to identify opportunities, provide technical services, and help plan field training activities and sales seminars.
Engage with Reps, identify gaps in coverage and performance.
Monthly forecasting and tracking of proposals.
Provide ongoing applications/engineering support with sales and product teams.
Manage and conduct training at the training center (MTC in Chattanooga, TN), external training and mobile training van.
Provide valuable market feedback to the sales, product management, engineering, and marketing teams.
Identify potential markets, new products and analyze the appropriate strategies that should be deployed to optimize growth.
Assist in managing the Rep Council with the product management team.
More specifically, essential functions will include, but not be limited to, the following:
Working with the Product Director (Business Lead) and product team to execute and iterate the strategy to achieve significant YoY revenue growth.
Analyze appropriate product line extensions with product management, research and develop marketing plans to drive sales. Includes gap analysis on products and competitive analysis.
Analyze products by region and develop plans for improving price to increase margin.
Assist the sales team with identifying opportunities, providing technical and field support, planning of sales training and application strategies. Includes review specifications and providing specification suggestions.
Work with marketing support team to review external support documents of the product, including catalogs, literature, and O&M manuals.
Manage voice of customer requirements from sales and end users in communications with operations, supply chain, product management and engineering.
Prioritize potential markets and new products and analyze the appropriate strategies that should be deployed to optimize growth.
Required Qualifications:
A minimum of five (5) years’ sales management, marketing, or commercialization related experience in valves, treatment plant or water distribution.
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a business, engineering, or communications-related field.
Aptitude and comfort with marketing technology-based sales solutions and platforms.
Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and other technology-based productivity tools such as Salesforce.com.
Ability to routinely travel 50% of work schedule.
Intermediate computer experience with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint programs.
High level of outgoing interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
Self-starter with get it done attitude.
Comfortable with public speaking engagements and the ability to deliver presentations to large (30+) groups of customers and other external contacts.
Desired Qualifications:
Prior direct sales management experience in the water/wastewater industry.
Prior Control Valve Experience.
Bachelor’s degree in technical-field (engineering, water technology, etc.).
Mechanical aptitude.
