Position Overview:

As a member of the health care team, the Respiratory Care Practitioner functions under the direction of the physician and collaborates the RN who is responsible for coordinating patient care activities. The RCP interacts with various hospital personnel, patients, and families utilizing customer service philosophies while maintaining confidentiality. Performs respiratory care procedures and cardiopulmonary diagnostic tests on a routine and emergency basis.

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

RCP-Respiratory Care Practitioner

RRT-Registered Respiratory Therapist

BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider

NRP-Neonatal Resuscitation Provider

ACLS-Advanced Cardiac Life Support

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

One year prior acute care, emergency and floor care experience preferred.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

An understanding of acute and subacute, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, assessment skills and criteria, operating principles and practical application of respiratory equipment, emergency procedures and various respiratory drugs and their side effects is required.

Excellent communication and guest relation skills.

A knowledge and demonstrated skill in the use of oxygen delivery devices, IPPB, pulmonary function testing, volume ventilators, oximeters, blood gas drawing and analysis, blood gas analyzers, EKG machine, and resuscitation equipment is required.

An understanding and ability to apply various breathing and chest resuscitation physiotherapy techniques is also required.

Ability to assess patients respiratory care educational needs and implement teaching.

The ability to handle a variety of stressful situations while remaining calm and professional, be flexible and work independently in many situations.

Demonstrates ability to operate basic office equipment, i.e., fax machine, computer, copier, etc.

As a direct clinical care provider, a knowledge of interpersonal, critical thinking, and technical skills is required for the neonate/infant (1 day - 2 years), child (3 - 12 years), adolescent (13 - 17 years), adult (18 - 69 years), and geriatric (70+ years) with whom you work, serve, or come in contact.

Pay Range is $44.18 to $54.92 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
