Job Summary: The Cost Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial procedures and confirming financial compliance through preparation of a company's reports and statements. They will prepare and review financial documents, reports, and statements. They oversee all accounting procedures (e.g. tax returns, month-end closures, budgeting) and advise on general financial matters. This position reports to the Director of Finance.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
Aid in implementation, maintenance, and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Review and gather financial data to be reported in a clear and understandable manner
Assist in budget preparation, payment schedules, and monthly bank reconciliation
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested
Support the management of accounting operations including but not limited to the general ledger, transactional accounting/accruals, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and weekly cash flows
Job costing and WIP analysis and reconciliation
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
Other activities as directed
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills required, and a proven ability to meet deadlines
Strong mathematical, analytical, quantitative, and social skills
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
Highly organized and detail-oriented
Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to read and analyze financial data/reports
Credentials and Experience
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics (preferred)
At least two years' experience in accounting or a related field (preferred)
Must be a US citizen
