Human Resources Manager

to join our Human Resources team to support Aniplex of America, a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc. This group is focused on Japanese Anime content and distribution, located in Santa Monica. The Human Resources Manager will provide expertise in HR management to support leadership and employees while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. The Human Resources Business Partner will report to the Senior Director, Human Resources, and the President, Aniplex of America. This role will be required to be on-site 3 days per week in the Santa Monica office. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic HR business partner in areas such as talent development, employee relations, change management, organizational design, compensation planning, employee engagement, and our annual performance management process. Provide objective and strategic input and guidance to employees at all levels related to policy interpretation and implementation, career development, and general management/employee relationship issues. Coach managers on performance management, feedback, employee development, and career pathing. Manage the onboarding process for new employees together with the managers, ensuring a smooth introduction to the team and the company. Manage employee relations including conducting investigations and developing solutions that result in timely conflict resolution. Utilize data to understand the culture of the organization and deploy strategies to increase employee engagement, such as training, coaching, and development. Monitor the "pulse" of the company and teams, supporting employees and managers to enact changes to support the overall company culture by searching for and providing appropriate services and training programs. Build and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, such as senior management, employees, colleagues, and vendors. Conduct or participate in special projects and other HR initiatives as needed to meet overall company and department strategic goals and initiatives. Communicate with employees on office or department protocols, updates, or changes as applicable. Conduct exit interviews, analyze turnover trends, and work with leadership to develop strategies to increase engagement. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION Your qualifications and experience should include: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field preferred. Bilingual in Japanese/English preferred. Minimum of 7 years of HR generalist experience to include employee relations. HR-related certifications a plus. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills. Strong data management and analysis skills, to include proficiency with MS Excel. Ability to work independently requiring minimal supervision and is confident in finding solutions for new situations. Sound judgment and problem-solving skills. Ability to define needs in the organization and equally strong in executing activities accordingly. Willing to learn and understand cross-cultural organizational dynamics and practices. Must have knowledge of US & California labor laws. Experience working with global organizations preferred. Proficient with Human Resources Information Systems (Workday a plus). Ability to travel when needed. All candidates must be authorized to work in the USA. The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $120,000 to $130,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
