The Azure Cloud Architect will be responsible for designing, implementing, and securing cloud-based solutions for a federal agency. This role requires ensuring compliance with federal regulations, including FISMA, FedRAMP, and NIST standards. The architect will collaborate with federal stakeholders to define cloud strategies that meet mission-critical objectives.Responsibilities:
Creating scalable, secure, and reliable cloud architectures using Azure services and integrating with NIH related systems and networks.Developing architectural blueprints and detailed documentation, including network topology diagrams, deployment view diagram, etc.Design, develop, and deploy secure Azure cloud environments that comply with federal regulations (e.g., FedRAMP, FISMA).Drafting and reviewing architectural designs to ensure they meet business requirements.Automate infrastructure deployment using Azure DevOps, ARM, and Terraform, ensuring repeatable and secure cloud deployments.Writing and reviewing code for cloud infrastructure and automation scripts.Participating in meetings with stakeholders to discuss project requirements and progress.Leading the migration of on-premises applications and data to the Azure cloud, including related assessment, migration, integration, verification and ATO required compliance.Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for cloud architectures and processes.Conducting training sessions for customers on cloud technologies and best practices.Implementing cloud solutions using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, PowerShell.Automating deployment processes with managed CI/CD pipelines.Ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity during migrations.Implementing and maintaining security best practices and compliance standards.Conducting regular security assessments and audits.Monitoring cloud performance and optimizing for cost, performance, and scalability.Implementing monitoring and logging solutions to track system health.Working closely with NIH related teams to integrate cloud solutions.Providing technical guidance and mentorship to team members.Staying updated with the latest Azure services and industry trends.Proposing and implementing innovative solutions to improve cloud services, including AI Operation and cost optimization.Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to cloud infrastructure and services.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or a related field + 16 years work experience.5 years of experience designing or supporting cloud infrastructure for federal clients or agencies.5 years of experience working with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and traditional Waterfall project management techniques.7 years of experience working with Federal IT cloud environments and familiarity with FedRAMP or FISMA frameworks.Required certifications: Azure Certification (Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), AWS Certified Solutions Architect).Must have one of the following certs: PMI Project Management Professional (PMP), ITIL v4 Foundations, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Google Cloud Professional Certification, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional.Must be a US citizen or Green Card holder.Must reside in the Washington, DC area.
