As part of a diverse team, this position is the subject matter expert for inventory cost accounting and responsible for performing sophisticated accounting functions consistent with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). These include performing month-end closing activities, managing inventory movements within the inventory module, performing inventory valuations, and performing subledger to general ledger reconciliations. This position will have direct interaction with Business Unit Finance, Operations, and Production Control in support of Blue Origin’s manufacturing processes. Additionally, the Cost Accountant will work closely with management to design and implement approved inventory cost accounting procedures and internal controls to ensure compliance with both US GAAP and Government Accounting Standards. The key to success in this role is actively driving process improvements and seeking opportunities for automation. Maintain inventory subledger and perform month-end close activities.

Process and coordinate inventory movements to support manufacturing operations.

Perform analytics to assess inventory for excess and obsolescence.

Provide insights into inventory transactions that help drive operational decisions.

Partner with operations, supply chain, and finance personnel across business lines to drive process improvements.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with concentration in accounting, finance, or related business field.

2+ years of inventory and/or operational accounting experience.

Solid understanding of US GAAP and internal controls over financial reporting.

Ability to earn trust, build positive relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

Must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired

Self-starter with bias for action – builder vs. maintainer mentality.

Advanced degree in accounting

CPA

Working knowledge of government contracting requirements (including FAR and CAS).

Exposure to Deltek Costpoint and Coupa.

Compensation Range for: WA applicants is $73,800.00-$103,320.00
