THIS IS A REGULAR FULL-TIME EXEMPT POSITION
JOB SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide leadership to ensure the effective planning, development and implementation of culturally and developmentally responsive programs and activities for youth. Involve Youth Department and Boys & Girls Club staff in the planning process. Maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment that facilitates the achievement of youth development outcomes. This position is also responsible for site management of the Boys & Girls Club facility, collaboration with Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), and the coordination and collaboration with other Red Cliff programs and departments, and other community/Tribal/ County agencies on youth-oriented activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage Boys and Girls Club daily operations, with primary concerns toward operating safely, efficiently and effectively in all areas.
Ensure compliance with all Red Cliff policies, standards, and procedures and the objectives, standards, and operating procedures for third-party contracts, including Boys and Girls Club policies.
Set the example of a high-level positive and professional behavior for staff and youth.
Schedule Boys & Girls Club staffing hours to include availability for youth when the Bayfield School is closed. Ensure staff are present at the Boys & Girls Club during hours of operation.
Coordinate and oversee day-to-day operations of the Boys & Girls Club staff and facilities.
Develop, implement, and monitor all Youth Department budgets and provide guidance to staff regarding efficient and responsible use of resources for youth activities.
Review, comment, and submit monthly FSR financial reports to FHS Administrator in a timely manner.
Track and leverage Youth Department data and information management in required software applications.
Utilize eCivis for contract and grant management as a tool to track submission of required financial and programmatic reports to Youth Department funding agencies.
Participate in the implementation of grants, contracts, projects and or being carried out under the Red Cliff Family Services division and at the direction of the Family Services Division Administrator.
Develop working knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups. Coordinate and facilitate structured youth-driven activities on- or off-site during scheduled hours.
Ensure that staff provide transportation to/from home or the Boys & Girls Club after events or upon closing, as needed.
Promote and market information for families and community regarding planned activities and events (including target age groups) in a timely manner/ develop and disseminate a monthly activities calendar.
Recruit knowledgeable community/other agency members (preferably in-kind) to assist when staff lacks expertise of activity content.
Ensure an effective system of child supervision for Boys and Girls Club and BFI activities.
Ensure Youth Department staff meet professional development requirements, and that additional professional development is available for individual staff growth and program improvement.
Provide oversight/collaborate or delegate youth sports groups i.e. softball, volleyball, basketball as per interest of youth working with local community volunteers and other staff to ensure that these activities are carried out.
Provide oversight/collaborate or delegate culturally based activities i.e. arts and crafts, drum and dance, gathering, camping to enable and ensure that these activities are carried out.
Assure that all necessary paperwork; (including but not limited to) permission slips, posters, requisitions with required back up for activities, and reports are completed and submitted or filed as required.
Prepare and complete reports as required by funding agency, or supervisor as directed.
Collaborate with tribal facility maintenance to ensure cleanliness of youth center as necessary.
Work with other staff (or independently if needed) to keep Youth Department supplies stocked and maintain an accurate inventory list of family service equipment used primarily by youth and families.
Attend and participate in staff and other meetings, in-service, training and other events as directed by supervisor.
Work as a team member with other staff when needed with activities or other division/tribal collaborative events.
Assist and participate in creating and gathering information from youth/community satisfaction surveys or needs assessments as directed.
Understand the basic aspects of trauma-informed youth programming, including social and emotional skill development, crisis de-escalation, and supporting the basic health and safety needs of the youth community at Red Cliff.
Participate in mandated reporter training and understand the requirements of reporting child abuse and neglect.
Prepare for and participate in annual BGCA safety assessment, following BGCA, Federal, and local guidelines for the safe operation of a youth service development organization.
Demonstrate tact, courtesy and respect when communicating and interacting with youth, staff, visitors, and outside agencies and programs.
Promote a working environment noted for effective cooperation and collaboration between programs, services and co-workers.
SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY:
This position is responsible for the supervision of Youth Department programs and staff, including Boys & Girls Club staff and operations.
KNOWLEDGE:
Must have knowledge of the family systems in the Red Cliff Community, Must possess knowledge of Red Cliff history and an understanding of the culture of our community.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of high school diploma, HSED or GED required.
Some college in human service type program desired or successful experience working with tribal youth and families necessary.
Must be willing to complete any required training to meet essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Must possess knowledge of effective conflict management techniques and the skill to mediate conflict among youth/ parents/ and others as the situation may arise.
Must possess excellent verbal and written, inter and intrapersonal communication skills.
Must understand and accept the value of program evaluation as it relates to program effectiveness and program fundraising capabilities.
Must be able to drive the tribal youth 15 passenger vehicle.
Must be available for out-of-town travel.
Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.
Must be able to travel throughout the community, make home visits (when necessary), attend meetings and participate in program/community education programs.
Must be creative and have a positive outlook which shows through in your actions and personality.
Must demonstrate ability to relate with youth.
Personal commitment to a healthy lifestyle and serve as a role model in the tribal community.
Prior supervisory experience desired.
Must have a valid driver’s license, vehicle and appropriate vehicle coverage.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
This position will require some out-of-town overnight travel to training and various youth events.
