About Us

In July 2019, Compass Community Schools opened six high-quality charter schools in the Memphis communities of Binghampton, Berclair, Frayser, Hickory Hill, Midtown, and Orange Mound. We focus intently on three pillars – academic excellence, values-based character education, and service learning in the community.

Position Overview

Compass Community Schools seeks a Principal for the 2025-26 school year who will lead our school with a relentless focus on achieving the highest standards of excellence. As the school’s primary instructional leader, the Principal will support teachers’ efforts to provide high-quality learning experiences every day.

Primary Responsibilities

Foster a school community that focuses on academic excellence, values-based character education, and service learning.

Develop a supportive, joyful, hopeful, and safe school culture that has high expectations for student success.

Provide leadership for all aspects of instructional quality, school culture, use of data, talent management, and professional development.

Ensure high levels of student learning.

Hold teachers accountable to high standards while providing support to help them meet these standards.

Monitor school performance through classroom observations, walkthroughs, and data analysis.

Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to teachers.

Ensure instructional lessons are standards-based and effectively delivered.

Communicate regularly with families as partners in education.

Qualifications

Ability to lead a team towards high performance levels.

Strong strategic planning and execution skills.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills to build productive relationships.

Desire to work hard in a balanced, extended school calendar.

Utmost personal and professional integrity.

Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
