Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.Advanced experience diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware and software issues on Apple devices.Advanced experience with performing repairs on various Apple products, including logic board replacements, screen repairs, and battery replacements.Advanced experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting and updating macOS and iOS operating system and applications.Customer service experience providing multi-level technical support to end users, both remotely and in person.Ability to maintain accurate records of repairs and customer interactions in the system.Ability to manage many projects and priorities at the same time.Ability to maintain inventory management; ordering parts and supplies as needed.Ability to document information technology systems and best practice procedures.Current AppleCare Hardware certified or must obtain within 6 months of hire.Must be willing to work additional hours, sometimes with little advanced notice, to complete projects and meet deadlines.Preferred Qualifications
Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware and software issues on Windows devices.Experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting Windows desktop computers in an enterprise or educational environment.Experience using a support ticketing system.Thorough understanding of computer systems, IT components, and security.Experience with computer backup solutions such as CrashPlan.Job Description
The IT Assistance Center (ITAC) Managed Services department in the division of Information Technology is seeking a highly qualified computer technician to assist with the day-to-day support and operation of the campus-wide computer repair center with the precedence on Apple products. Primary duties include advanced level technical support of various computing hardware including, desktops and mobile devices, diagnosing, troubleshooting and performing repairs, installation of operating systems, inventory and records management, and consulting with faculty, staff, students and the university technical community on best practices and advanced technical issues.
Job Duties
Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software issues on University-owned and personal Apple devices.Perform repairs on various Apple products; University owned and personal.Diagnose, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and perform repairs on Windows products on occasion.Install, configure and update macOS and iOS operating system and applications.Take steps to maintain the health of IT infrastructure through security best practices.Stay updated on the latest Apple technologies, tools, and repair techniques.Maintain accurate inventory of parts and peripherals for repair purposes.Assist customers with the configuration and procurement of IT equipment.Provide advanced technical support and consulting to a varied user base.Work with vendors and outside technical contacts to implement reliable solutions to a variety of technical issues.Create and maintain written logs, reports, procedures, and documentation on work performed.Organize the repair shop and manage data entryProvide guidance and training to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.On occasion, conduct field service calls to setup computers and migrate files for faculty and staff.Work closely with others in a team as well as independently.Perform other duties as assigned.
