We are hiring an Assistant Director of Network Operations to oversee the management and operation of our campus’s copper and fiber optic cabling infrastructure, telephone systems, security cameras, and electronic door access systems. This role involves providing technical direction and supervision to ensure the effective functioning of the campus’s voice, data, and video telecommunications services.About Us:
We are a small team responsible for all aspects of the Texas State University campus network infrastructure, focusing on cabling and telecommunications systems. Our work includes maintaining and implementing copper and fiber optic cabling according to BICSI standards, TIA / EIA Telecommunication standards, managing the campus telephone systems, security camera infrastructure, and electronic door access. Our goal is to ensure a reliable and secure environment that supports the university community.About You:
We are seeking a candidate with extensive experience in network cabling, telecommunications, and security systems. You should be well-versed in BICSI standards and demonstrate strong leadership and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to manage projects, oversee technical staff, and collaborate with various university departments. Independence, attention to detail, and the capacity to guide strategic planning for network infrastructure are essential qualities for this role.Job Duties:Direction and management of the network operations telecommunications department including voice, data and video. Provide direct supervision to Network Operations staff and student workforce.Manage work orders and trouble tickets.Manage fleet of technician vehicles.Manage internal projects, work with facilities project managers for small and medium university projects. Work extensively with outside contractors to complete projects both internal and external to Network Operations.Purchase inventory, tools, parts, and supplies.Collaborate/educate departmental staff across the university.Manage telephone system services and infrastructure.
