GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for providing leadership and support to assigned elementary schools; ensuring alignment of elementary schools' Plans for Continuous Improvement with the school division's strategic plan; optimizing resources for assigned elementary school communities to achieve the school division's strategic goal and outcomes for student success; supervising principals of assigned elementary schools; communicating policies, practices, and procedures to staff of assigned elementary schools; monitoring implementation of the assigned elementary schools' plans for continuous improvement; monitoring alignment of each assigned elementary school's plan for continuous improvement with the division's strategic plan; providing effective crisis and issue management consultation; and assisting with plans for and implementation of professional development for staff in assigned elementary schools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Assist elementary personnel in identifying relevant, innovative instructional practices designed to provide the resources and support needed for every child to maximize his/her learning potential
Evaluate and supervise elementary personnel including formal evaluations of elementary school principals
Advise principals on matters of instruction, provide leadership to elementary principals and their staff in identifying appropriate curriculum and instructional best practices designed to meet the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs of every child
Advise school administrators on public relations with parents and the school community
Assist all parents of elementary students in resolving concerns and opening lines of communication with the school
Represent HCPS on local and regional committees designed to enhance curriculum, instruction, and public confidence
Serve on or lead district level committees as assigned
Assist principals with identifying and implementing school safety practices designed to create a safe learning environment
Assist principals in developing, implementing, and evaluating budget, to include grants
Assist the assistant superintendent of instructional leadership with the development, implementation, and evaluation of professional learning activities for elementary personnel
Assume responsibility for working with staff in a continuous assessment of the elementary instructional programs
Direct the development of the elementary budget and setting divisionwide priorities
Provide instructional supervision and assists principals, upon their request, with formal evaluations of elementary teachers
Provide leadership in the selection of textbooks and all supplementary materials for the elementary instructional program
Assist Human Resources in screening, interviewing, and recommending elementary instructional personnel
Assist with public relations efforts through evening speaking engagements, elementary publications and attendance at conferences and meetings
Assist schools in developing, implementing, and monitoring Continuous School Improvement Plans
Monitor student academic progress
Conduct walkthroughs to monitor instruction
Review tiered support plans and make suggestions for improvement
Organize, staff, and coordinate summer school
Plan and organize kindergarten registration
Oversee Title I, Title IV, and PK grants
Collaborate with special education staff to foster inclusive learning environments, PK-5
Performs related work as required.
Qualifications: KSA's, Education
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of school administration; comprehensive knowledge of the school division's strategic plan; comprehensive knowledge of the school division's procedures and organization; comprehensive knowledge of school personnel; ability to work with and through School Board members, administrators, teachers and all support staff; ability to inform and collaborate with school administrators based on research; ability to conceptualize, initiate, monitor and assess new and/or current school-based programs; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, administrators, teachers, staff, and office associates.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Postgraduate Professional License with an endorsement in Administration and Supervision. At least three years' experience as an elementary teacher and at least three years' recent experience as a principal. Valid VA Driver's License.
