We are currently seeking a Product Design Leader to join our Card Servicing Experience design team. We design the experiences and tools that help our servicing associates help our customers, or help our customers help themselves. The work we do ensures customers can easily navigate any question or problem they have along their journey with us, no matter which path they follow. This Senior Manager, Product Design Lead, will oversee our platform design system and governance processes - ensuring that when we expand our product feature set, we do so in a methodical, systematic way. We're looking for a design leader who will take a systems-mindset to defining and deploying consistent, reusable componentry and patterns across our product portfolio. This designer gets excited by enabling fellow design and product partners with the documentation needed to leverage, contribute to, scale, and evolve our library. What You'll Do:
As a leader and maker, you'll be asked to handle responsibilities, including: Strategy & Planning
Product alignment - creating direction and facilitating product partnership while managing ambiguity and shifting priorities Facilitation - planning and facilitating workshops with internal partners to deliver experiences that align business and user needs Prioritization - engaging in strategic portfolio planning to set the product and design roadmap User-centered - embracing and advocating for an experience mindset, reminding us all to focus on the user, even if our eyes are on the platform Discovering & Delivering
Research - leading traditional and non-traditional design-thinking methodologies across the product delivery lifecycle, from foundational user research through usability Collaboration - partnering with technology, product, and the business to uncover needs and translate them into engaging, simple, intuitive, and scalable design patterns Storytelling - evangelizing the value of a systems-mindset, influencing partner adoption and making it easy to realize business impact Form & Function - demonstrating robust knowledge of UX best-practices, having a sharp and highly critical eye for visual design, and balancing those with what is needed functionally and what can be built realistically Quality - ensuring alignment to patterns and best practices through oversight and periodic experience review Guidance - becoming the subject matter expert on pattern usage and approved practices, and providing methods that enable designers and partners to obtain your guidance as they make experience enhancements Building - delivering reusable components and patterns via high-fidelity design assets for acceptance, development, and delivery to market in partnership with technology colleagues Leadership
Enabling easy adoption of and evangelization for using approved patterns and practices Teaching the mindset for identifying when to create new patterns and when not to Owning and facilitating the design system contribution model between design, product, and tech Forming relationships with broader design system teams and thinking strategically about how to plan for eventual cross-business standardizations Basic Qualifications
10 years of experience in a Product Design role 5 years of experience building and scaling design systems 5 years of experience leading teams Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with cross-functional teams-including Product, Tech and Design Experience with prototyping tools, such as Figma, and its advanced features Experience designing for cross channel experiences Experience designing for enterprise products Experience working with design system CMS products, such as Storybook At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position. The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked. New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $199,100 - $227,200 for Sr. Manager, Design Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter. This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
