$70,000 - $80,000 annually

Purpose of Position:

The Human Resources Senior Generalist at Blue Plate Catering plays a crucial role in driving HR strategies that align with our mission of delivering exceptional culinary experiences and fostering a positive, collaborative work environment. As a key partner to business leaders and managers, the HR Senior Generalist provides guidance on HR policies, employee relations, organizational change, and employee development, ensuring that our team members are equipped to deliver outstanding service.

While not directly managing the HR team, the HR Senior Generalist ensures the effective delivery of HR services and supports employee training and the overall employee experience. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Senior HR Generalist contributes to the development of a skilled and engaged workforce.

Essential Functions:

Lead workforce planning efforts in collaboration with department heads to identify staffing needs, develop strategies to attract talent, and support employee retention initiatives.

Manage the full employee lifecycle from recruitment to exit process, including job offers, onboarding, and conducting in-person new hire orientations.

Represent the company at recruitment events such as career fairs and build partnerships with schools and community organizations to attract diverse talent.

Ensure a smooth and engaging onboarding process for new hires, continuously improving the orientation program to enhance employee experience and reinforce company culture.

Collaborate with managers to facilitate goal-setting, performance evaluations, and development planning, including coaching on managing underperformance and creating growth opportunities.

Advise managers on handling employee relations, disciplinary actions, and sensitive conversations, including terminations. Provide guidance on developing leadership skills and managing teams effectively.

Identify organizational training needs and collaborate with managers to design and implement targeted training programs. Facilitate in-house sessions and coordinate mentorship opportunities to support employee growth and succession planning.

Regularly assess the impact of training programs through feedback, employee performance, and business outcomes, and make improvements to ensure effectiveness.

Collaborate with various departments to write, update, and maintain clear and detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

Support organizational changes by advising managers on structure, roles, and processes. Lead initiatives that drive efficiency and align with business goals, ensuring smooth transitions during restructuring or process updates.

Ensure that HR policies are implemented consistently and in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Regularly review and update policies to reflect changes in laws and business practices.

Utilize data to drive HR decision-making and report on key HR metrics, such as turnover, employee engagement, and retention. Provide insights and recommendations to leadership based on data analysis.

Lead or contribute to HR projects that improve HR processes and drive organizational effectiveness, including diversity and inclusion initiatives, employee engagement surveys, and HR systems improvements.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR records, ensuring full compliance with federal and state regulations, including regular I-9 audits.

Administer and update the HRIS system, ensuring that all employee data, including job changes, transfers, and terminations, is recorded accurately and promptly.

Collaborate with business leaders to maintain and update job descriptions, ensuring alignment with organizational needs.

Work alongside the HR team to cultivate a dynamic and engaging employee experience, reinforcing the company’s employee value proposition.

Plan and coordinate employee recognition programs, ensuring that achievements are celebrated and employees feel valued.

Assist with annual benefits enrollment process, ensuring timely communication and effective facilitation for all employees.

Lead the company’s safety initiatives, ensuring a safe and compliant workplace in accordance with federal and state regulations.

Regularly review and refresh policies to reflect evolving business needs, fostering a consistent and transparent workplace.

Assist and support HR team with relevant tasks as needed.

Education and/or Experience:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field preferred.

4-5 years of HR Generalist experience, preferably in the hospitality industry, covering recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, and compliance experience is required.

Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently. Bilingual (Spanish) proficiency is required.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20-25 pounds.

This role may occasionally require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential responsibilities, depending on business needs.
