My client is a fast growing family owned business with ample room for career growth. The ideal candidate will have experience of purchasing from Asia and must have experience traveling to Asia to visit suppliers.
Job Description
Sourcing & Supplier Management:
Identify, evaluate, and develop a robust network of suppliers across Asia, focusing on strategic sourcing opportunities to drive cost savings and efficiency.Build strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure high levels of performance and innovation.Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure favorable pricing and quality agreements.Regularly review supplier performance based on KPIs such as quality, delivery time, and cost.
Strategic Procurement:
Develop and implement procurement strategies tailored to the Asian market, aligning with the company's global sourcing goals.Stay informed of market trends, including commodity pricing, labor costs, and political factors affecting supply chain stability in the region.Identify opportunities to consolidate suppliers or adjust sourcing strategies to optimize the supply chain.
Cost Control & Savings:
Analyze regional pricing trends and cost structures to identify cost-saving opportunities.Ensure budget adherence by monitoring purchasing expenditures and forecasting future procurement costs.Collaborate with the finance department to track cost savings, budget variances, and overall spend analysis.
Compliance & Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with local and international regulations, including import/export laws, tariffs, and trade restrictions.Mitigate risks associated with sourcing in Asia, such as supply chain disruptions, geopolitical risks, and quality control issues.Conduct regular audits of suppliers to ensure adherence to ethical standards and sustainability practices.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with engineering, operations, logistics, and quality control teams to ensure materials and products meet required specifications.Coordinate with global procurement teams to align Asian sourcing strategies with overall company goals.Collaborate with the logistics team to ensure efficient and cost-effective shipping from Asian suppliers to global distribution centers.
Inventory Management:
Manage inventory levels by optimizing the balance between supply and demand, avoiding both shortages and overstock.Implement effective inventory control systems and forecasting models for key products sourced from Asia.
Market Analysis & Reporting:
Provide regular reports on supplier performance, market conditions, pricing trends, and sourcing strategies specific to Asia.Maintain data accuracy in procurement systems to support data-driven decision-making.Present sourcing strategies and recommendations to senior management.

The Successful Applicant
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.7-10+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, with a strong focus on the Asian market.Deep knowledge of Asian supplier networks, trade regulations, and market dynamics.Proven track record of negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships in Asia.Strong analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to conduct cost analysis and financial reporting.Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.Proficiency in procurement software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Coupa) and data analysis tools.

Target compensation for the Purchasing Manager is $100,000 - $135,000 base salary.
