Surpassing network limitations of the past, our Wireless Development organization is building the country’s first cloud-native, standalone 5G wireless network. This is the foundation of a connected world flexible enough to satisfy all the social, economic and transformative needs of today and the future.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
**Please note that this is a subject matter expert and not a people leader role.
The position will play as the technical subject matter expert in the region for RF design, testing, deployment and troubleshooting of the elements of the 5G RAN and core. The Regional Principal RF and RAN Operations Engineer will guide the talented team of design engineers in the region to support deployment of the 5G systems. In this position, it will interface with the National RF Team and the technology team on technical issues and work closely with the market teams to translate those into action. It will also coordinate and facilitate detailed technical planning and ensure compliance of the regions to the guidelines and also serve to make change recommendations when required.
Key Responsibilities:
Foster an environment aligned with Echostar's core values, encouraging innovation and creativity across the region and national teams.
Serve as the primary contact for National teams, disseminating material to RF Engineering Managers and Market General Managers.
Collaborate with National RF to roll out initiatives and ensure compliance with RF guidelines on parameter and configuration settings.
Work with RF Engineering Managers to consolidate and prioritize regional issues, driving timely resolution and best-in-class performance.
Stay current on emerging technologies and collaborate with teams to support projects like new RAN releases, features, and network optimization.
Manage relationships with internal and external partners to drive new capabilities in the design, deployment, and performance of the 5G network.
Skills, Experience and Requirements
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in technical/engineering discipline with greater than 10 years of RF engineering experience is required
Skills and Qualifications:
Expertise in 3G, 4G, and 5G NR technologies, with practical experience in cellular networks.
Advanced knowledge of 5G Open RAN design and optimization for macro, small cell, and DAS networks.
Familiar with 5G RAN elements (DU, CU, RU, EMS) and able to contribute to troubleshooting.
Strong communication skills, able to convey complex topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Skilled in building presentations and comfortable presenting to large audiences and executive leadership.
Effective at collaboration and relationship-building with peers, senior management, and vendors across markets.
Salary Ranges
Compensation: $127,050.00/Year - $181,500.00/Year
