VoIP Specialist
(aka The Voice Maestro) to maintain, optimize, and secure VoIP infrastructure, supporting reliable, high-quality voice communication across the organization.As a VoIP Specialist at
our client , you’ll work closely with IT and telecom teams to manage VoIP systems, implement upgrades, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and ensure voice networks are optimized. Your role will be key in maintaining efficient and effective communication channels that empower teams to collaborate.Key Responsibilities:Manage and Maintain VoIP Infrastructure:
Oversee the setup, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of VoIP systems. You’ll ensure all VoIP components, including servers, gateways, and endpoints, are working optimally and securely.
Monitor VoIP Performance and Quality:
Continuously monitor call quality, latency, and bandwidth utilization to maintain clear, reliable communication. You’ll use diagnostic tools to preemptively identify and address issues.
Troubleshoot VoIP and Connectivity Issues:
Diagnose and resolve VoIP issues related to call quality, connectivity, or network interference. You’ll act as the go-to person for resolving voice-related technical problems.
Optimize VoIP Network Performance:
Implement QoS (Quality of Service) configurations, bandwidth allocation, and traffic prioritization to ensure consistent, high-quality voice performance, even during peak times.
Ensure Security and Compliance in VoIP Systems:
Apply security measures to protect VoIP infrastructure from unauthorized access and vulnerabilities. You’ll manage encryption, secure configurations, and compliance with data protection standards.
Support VoIP System Upgrades and Migrations:
Plan and implement upgrades, system migrations, and new VoIP deployments. You’ll coordinate with vendors and internal teams to ensure seamless transitions and minimal downtime.
Document Configurations and Maintain Knowledge Base:
Create and maintain detailed documentation for VoIP configurations, troubleshooting steps, and user guides. You’ll ensure that knowledge is accessible for team members and future reference.
Required Skills:VoIP and Telecommunication Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of VoIP protocols (SIP, H.323), codecs, and network configurations essential for high-quality voice communications.Network Management and QoS Expertise:
Proficiency in network management, particularly QoS, to prioritize and optimize VoIP traffic.Troubleshooting and Diagnostic Skills:
Strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving VoIP-related issues, with experience in tools like Wireshark or SolarWinds.VoIP Security and Compliance:
Familiarity with VoIP security best practices, including encryption, firewalls, and access controls to protect voice networks.Vendor and Stakeholder Collaboration:
Excellent communication skills to work with VoIP service providers, hardware vendors, and internal teams.Educational Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field.
Equivalent experience in VoIP or network administration may be considered.Certifications in VoIP, networking, or telecommunications (e.g., Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Collaboration, CompTIA Network+, Avaya Certified Specialist) are advantageous.Experience Requirements:3+ years of experience in VoIP or telecom administration,
with a proven track record in managing and optimizing VoIP systems.Experience with VoIP platforms such as Cisco Unified Communications, Avaya, or Asterisk is beneficial.Familiarity with cloud-based VoIP solutions (e.g., RingCentral, Zoom Phone) is a plus.
