Description
The Manufacturing Quality Engineers for Battery are responsible for driving quality improvement actions on the modules throughout the lifecycle of the products. They enable mass production capable manufacturing processes and develop plans to validate and verify new product quality at each development landmark. They approach problems in an engineering method and make data-driven decisions. Quality Engineers also bring up capable suppliers that can execute at a high level on an ongoing basis. •Manage IQC, IPQC, OQC and ORT •Drive quality readiness at the factory for development builds and mass production •Drive all quality issues in development builds to timely closure. Present findings and root cause corrective action report to Execs as needed •Collaborate with design, engineering and safety teams to set appropriate quality control/Inspection/metrology stations on the production line •Conduct periodic reviews of Field/Factory Quality Data with OEM partners •Prepare OK to Ship documentation for new product launch •Create risk assessment and implement plans for new products being developed •Work with product design team on DFM and conduct tolerance analysis studies to suggest changes to meet specifications and process capability •Develop and drive execution of module reliability testing plan during new product introductions and mass production •Support/Attend new product development builds as required •~35% International Travel is required
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years experience in either Manufacturing or the development of consumer electronics. Experience in battery is a plus
Experience in metrology and standard manufacturing quality control practices
Project management experience and a deep understanding of problem solving tools including design of experiments, root cause analysis, and statistical tools
Bachelors in Chemical/ Mechanical/ECE Engineering (MS/PhD preferred)

Experience in electro-mechanical products in high volume manufacturing
Creative problem solving experience
Technical systems knowledge related to computers
Familiarity with GRR, MSA, GD&T practices, Metrology, DFMEA and tolerance analysis is a plus
Knowledge of reliability methods and quality sampling methodologies
Knowledge or prior experience working on thermal products for consumer electronics industry preferred
Strong communication skills and passion to learn and adapt to a dynamic environment
Prior experience in design/manufacturing of Battery modules is a plus

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.
