The Manager, Database Administration is responsible for all aspects of database administration globally at WEX.How you’ll make an impact:Builds and maintains a mature ITIL based approach to database administration.
Leverages technology to advance corporate and departmental goals.
Maintains supported hardware and software levels across the enterprise and implements new technology in alignment and partnership with Enterprise and Infrastructure Architecture.
Develops, implements, and maintains legal and regulatory compliance processes and procedures.
Ensures alignment of Data Center technology with Business Continuity requirements.
Drives complex and innovative technology projects.
Manages all aspects of engineering staff promoting individual fulfillment, teamwork, and respect for others.
Develops key partnerships across the organization.
Develops sufficient knowledge of the business environment and goals to facilitate the development and maintenance of cross-functional solutions that enable our service consumers.
Manages budget and timely payment of invoices.
Manages hardware and software renewal process ensuring adequate time for competitive bid process.
Responsible for the creation of work plans for Database Administration personnel:Prioritization and resource planning.
Tracking and monitoring of projects.
Ensuring deadlines are met (including those managed externally by a third party).
Works with the Product Development team, Quality Assurance team, and other company units and external suppliers/consultants to optimize delivery efficiency and ensure a solid, high performance, cost-effective, and reliable database platform.
Responsible for database personnel administration including:Performance reviews.
Salary administration.
Professional development.
Hiring and firing, etc.
Responsible for the development and enforcement of corporate policies and procedures, including:Standards for maintenance and support.
Project management.
Performance management.
Security and legal/statutory requirements.
Experience you’ll bring:A minimum of 5 years of related experience.
A minimum of 2-3 years of leadership experience.
Requires strong technical expertise with SQL Server database administration, HADR architecture including Always On Availability Groups.
Experience with managing SQL Server databases in Microsoft Azure IaaS and PaaS.
Experience managing people, directing team functions, and leading projects/programs to success.
Requires analytical ability, strong judgment, problem solving skills, and effective human relations skills to work cross-functionally across the Enterprise with staff and all levels of management in various disciplines.
Uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
Ability to function in a complex environment through multi-tasking and establishing and communicating priorities.
Strong interpersonal and communications skills; capable of writing proposals or papers, acting as a vendor liaison, making presentations to customers or client audiences or professional peers, and working closely with upper management, acquired company personnel and outsourced service provider.
Strong listening and collaboration skills.
Ability to solve problems quickly.
Preferred Qualifications:Postgraduate coursework in Computer Science or Business Administration is a plus.
Agile ways of working (Kanban, Scrum).
Experience with and knowledge of SSRS, SSIS, Azure Data Factory.
The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan.
