Job Description This Senior Scientist position will be in the Analytical R&D Global Tech Centers Material Science / Physical Analytical Chemistry (PAC) group. The group is a global team of experienced and innovative scientists which utilize a diverse set of physical analytical tools to advance CMC development programs by providing insights and driving the understanding of materials, processes, and products. Additionally, the group contributes to development and justification of control strategies and authors relevant sections of regulatory submissions across all development phases. The primary deliverables for this role are the application of physical analytical technologies in support of drug substance and drug product development, which include the design and execution of experimental studies and, when appropriate, the development of test methods. The primary area of focus is the application of particle characterization, solid form development, microscopy and imaging (optical, electron and X-ray) technologies and the development of insights driving deeper understanding of pharmaceutical materials, processes, and products. Other areas include the application of thermal analysis and/or vibrational spectroscopy. Qualifications Basic Bachelors Degree or equivalent education and typically 14 years of relevant experience; Masters Degree or equivalent education and typically 12 years of relevant experience; Ph. D. and typically 6 years of experience. Ability to coordinate activities and work simultaneously on multiple projects, in a global, fast-paced, setting where priorities may change quickly. Proven effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact effectively with interdisciplinary scientists, engineers, quality staff, regulators, and management. High attention to detail and creative problem solving while exhibiting strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work independently as well as part of teams. Preferred Advanced degree in analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences or related field. Experience in particle characterization including Laser Diffraction, Dynamic Light Scattering, Laser Obscuration, and Microscopic imaging (optical, SEM, micro CT) Experience with post data collection processing, including 3D data reconstruction, artificial intelligence and machine learning strategies is a plus Knowledge of physical analytical technologies, including PXRD, thermal analysis (DSC, TGA) and vibrational spectroscopy (infrared, near-infrared, Raman). Previous work experience in a pharmaceutical laboratory and knowledge of drug substance and drug product development processes. Experience extracting insights from multidimensional data sets, along with other physical analytical characterizations, and connecting to pharmaceutical materials, processes, and products.
