Tyto Athene is looking for a
Senior Network Engineer
with expertise in public safety environments to join our dynamic team supporting a Cisco network environment critical for our Enterprise NG9-1-1 solution supporting customer’s Public Service Answering Points (PSAP) across CONUS, Hawaii, and Guam. This role is vital in ensuring the reliability and security of our network that transports both data and voice communications. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with Cisco switches, routers, and firewalls, and demonstrate a strong commitment to maintaining the highest standards of performance and uptime.
Responsibilities:
Network Design and Implementation:
Design, configure, and deploy Cisco networking solutions, including switches, routers, and firewalls, ensuring optimal performance for mission-critical applications.Network Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
Proactively monitor network performance, identify potential issues, and implement solutions. Utilize tools for network analysis and diagnostics to resolve problems swiftly.Security Management:
Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect the network infrastructure. Regularly assess and update security protocols and practices to safeguard sensitive data and voice communications.Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and incidents. Prepare reports on network performance, incidents, and recommended improvements.Collaboration and Support:
Work closely with cross-functional teams to support network-related projects and initiatives. Provide technical support and guidance to junior network staff as needed.Compliance and Standards:
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards pertaining to public safety communications. Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and new technologies.Training and Development:
Conduct training sessions for team members on network operations, troubleshooting techniques, and security protocols.Required:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in network engineering, with a strong emphasis on Cisco environments. Experience in a 9-1-1 or public safety setting is highly desirable.Understanding of TCP/IP, common networking ports and protocols, traffic flow, system administration, OSI model, defense-in-depth, and common security elements In-depth knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.Proficient in network protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS).Experience with VoIP technologies and QoS implementations.Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark).Extensive knowledge with Cisco line of network equipment. Additional vendor network equipment (Juniper, Fortinet, Ubiquiti, etc.) experience a plusStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Ability to work effectively under pressure and in emergency situations.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Certifications:
CCNP certification is required. Additional certifications (CCIE, CISSP, etc.) are a plus.
Clearance:
Minimum of Secret eligibility.
