DescriptionJob SummaryThe Senior Corporate Counsel for Commercial and Regulatory will support the organization in a broad range of commercial and regulatory matters. You will work across multiple businesses and functions in North America to develop and deliver legal solutions to complex and complicated business issues. The candidate will work directly with members of the legal team, purchasing, sales, engineering, and business executives to proactively identify solutions that address and manage contract, regulatory, and transactional risks. You will participate heavily in providing proactive advice and counsel, negotiate contracts in collaboration with company team members ensuring that the company's legal position is protected and that the company has full knowledge of the risks involved with a variety of transactional matters. The candidate must have excellent judgment, have the courage to make difficult decisions, and be able to influence peers and executives on strategic initiatives.ResponsibilitiesAdvise and counsel business partners on legal issues related to transactional matters involving the purchase and sale of goods and services; sourcing of direct and indirect commodities/supplies; and establishment of a variety of collaborative relationships in the support of the Company’s short- and long-term vision.Provide support for Sales, Purchasing, and Engineering functions in review, drafting, and negotiation on a wide variety of transactional documents, including software licensing documents and other documents regularly encountered in support of manufacturing supply chain transactions and complex sales relationships in the automotive industry.Provide advice and counsel on various regulatory matters typically encountered by large manufacturers in the automotive industry, including OSHA, NHTSA, FMVSS, Import/Export, and Environmental.Develop and deliver contract and regulatory training to business partners and other stakeholders.Manage policy requirements to satisfy the North America contract review process as well as the contract review process for foreign parent company.Maintain current understanding of industry or functional trends in area of responsibility and builds on them to generate creative and innovative solutions.Travel to domestic locations.Perform other duties as assigned by the General Counsel.QualificationsJuris Doctorate from accredited law school required.
