Overview
SOS International LLC (SOSi), is seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator. The ideal candidate will possess experience working with a small team of Oracle database administrators in operational support of production environments utilizing Oracle 19c and 21c running on Red Hat Linux. The selected individual will be an active member of a mature team supporting high availability, mission critical Oracle databases, in administrative activities such as backups, recovery, monitoring, patching, performance tuning, replication, upgrades, and deployments. The team also provides operational support for Oracle, SQL Server, and other relational and non-relational database systems. The candidate will develop, edit and refine documentation. Collaborating closely with the development and operations teams and customer stakeholders to bring together the full range of technical and business competencies needed to enable successful achievement of customer service deliverables and SLAs, technology transformation, business requirements and other work deliverables which are consistent with organizational goals and objectives. The candidate will work in a collaborative manner with the operations and architecture teams to propose, brainstorm, present, and implement simple to complex architectural solutions.
Essential Job Duties
Use Oracle and third-party tools to maintain database health and consistency through multiple diverse, global data centers.
Implement and maintain smooth operation and physical design of databases.
Conduct performance tuning of indexes and databases.
Review database design and integration of systems, provide backup recovery and make recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements.
Maintain security and integrity controls.
Develop stored procedures and/or triggers.
Audit, modify, and amend data in systems using SQL and PL/SQL commands.
Manage database and transaction log backups, notifications, and database replication between multiple Oracle RDBMS Servers and remote sites.
Lead and maintain the integrity, security, and availability of a true global 24x7 OLTP database(s) environment. Duties include disaster recovery, performance analysis and tuning, index maintenance, monitoring database health, and troubleshooting critical incidents.
Participate in and facilitate the full life cycle implementation of Oracle 19c RDBMS and 19c Oracle GoldenGate data replication for production environments.
Leverage experience with:
Upgrading the Oracle database from 19c to 21c/23ai, containerization of the 19c DB to CDB/PDB, configuring the Oracle GoldenGate from 19c to 21c HUB, and deploying OEM 13.5 agents.
Managing Oracle Exadata Engineering systems from X2-8 to X8M-8 and ZDLRA backup engineering systems.
Upgrading the Oracle RDBMS system from 19c to 21c/23ai as well as the Transparent Data Encryption.
Applying database administration skills to Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC) and Data Guard installation, configuration, and troubleshooting production issues.
Perform database and software life-cycle activities to ensure the highest level of system performance and availability and compliance with business requirements.
Apply advanced methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation and solution of the complex system requirements and problems.
Support Oracle 19c and 21c Databases on Linux platforms for mission critical applications.
Report the status of all database tasks to audiences of varying degrees of technical knowledge.
Coordinate and communicate efforts involving multiple internal and external teams.
Create schedules, plans and related documents of database tasks.
Work with Operations and System Administration teams to maintain and enhance the production database infrastructure.
Develop and carry out information security plans and policies.
Minimum Requirements
Active SECRET government security clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret government security clearance.
BS in computer science, or related field.
Oracle Certification.
10+ years’ experience installing RDBMS, Oracle Client on Windows, Oracle quarterly CPU patch, OEM agent.
Experience with Oracle GoldenGate replication.
Experience with Oracle database security requirements as documented in NIST Guidelines.
Experience as an Oracle 19c and 21c database administrator with specific knowledge of RAC, ASM, GoldenGate, Data Guard, RMAN, Patching, AND/OR Security.
Experience upgrading/migrating Oracle 19c to 21c.
Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager, Oracle Audit Vault, Oracle Transparent Data Encryption, Thales, CipherTrust, Zabbix, ServiceNow, Jira, Grafana, Ansible, Python and Linux scripting.
Experience with RHEL 8x and 9x, Oracle Enterprise Linux.
Foundational knowledge of/experience with Agile/Scrum processes.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience as an Oracle DBA supporting a federal agency’s Oracle migration initiatives following Agile Software Development Methodologies.
Experience with Oracle Cloud Computing (private or public).
Experience with Oracle Engineered Systems, such as Exadata and Sun Super Cluster.
Work Environment
The ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-stress situations. The ability to communicate effectively both verbal and oral with customers, colleagues and other contractors. Rotating on-call 24/7 support with weekend deployment support.
This position is hybrid with remote work and potentially on site one day per week in the office in Sterling, VA. The number of days the Oracle DBA works onsite is subject to change based on government/program requirements (for example, surge support might require the individual to be on site).
