Position Summary...
What you'll do...
We are seeking a Staff Data Scientist for our Sam's Fraud Engine (SaFE) team. This role involves creating innovative solutions for fraud prevention across our E-Commerce, Scan and Go (Clubs), and Contact Center channels. The right candidate will have the opportunity to implement data-aggregation from a wide array of datasets, develop algorithms and models to extract insights, present findings to stakeholders and influence the direction of our business initiatives and strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders including Executives, Business Owners, and various technical teams to address business and operational problems using AI, ML, Statistics, Predictive Analytics, and Data Mining techniques.
- Implement data-aggregation from different datasets, create algorithms and models to extract insights, and present the findings to stakeholders.
- Define business problems and formulate analytical approaches.
- Perform exploratory data analysis and apply statistical and machine learning techniques.
- Build and optimize statistical models and machine learning algorithms.
- Communicate data insights to non-technical stakeholders and executives.
- Create visualizations and reports to effectively communicate findings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for the effective implementation of data-driven solutions.
- Investigate and resolve emerging fraud trends by implementing heuristics-based rules, quantitative or ML models.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience building and operationalizing statistical and machine learning solutions. Prior experience with fraud prevention is a plus.
- Ph.D or Master's degree in Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics or Computer Science.
- Proficiency in machine learning algorithms such as multi-class classifications, decision trees,
XGboost
, deep learning, and anomaly detection.
- Experience with Spark and cloud technologies like GCP and Azure. - Solid understanding of probability and statistical models.
- Proficient in
Pyspark,
Python, R, Scala, or Java.
- Experience with tools and libraries for large scale data-processing, exploration, analysis, modeling, and visualization.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Deep Learning algorithms.
- Experience with MLOPS, Performance Engineering including testing, tuning, and monitoring tools.
