Software Developer - Perception Degradation V&V

Zoox is looking for a software developer engineer in test with a strong verification and validation background to lead the development of sensor-degradation analysis pipelines to support fault-tolerance and platform stability. As an engineer on the System Design and Mission Assurance (SDMA) team, you will collaborate closely with perception, software, hardware and test engineers. Your efforts will have a direct impact on the safety of our cutting-edge autonomous driving system. In this role, you will:

Lead the sensor degradation data analysis within the Platform Safety Assurance TeamDevelop test infrastructure and tests to verify and validate driving software performance in the presence of sensor faults.Lead efforts to define relevant metrics, and develop validation methodologies and long-term strategy to measure SW performance when sensor data is degraded.Understand and identify critical scenarios and edge cases to develop perception and CAS tests to measure performance in those scenarios.Collaborate with sensor engineers and software engineers from perception and other relevant teams to ensure methodology implementation meets requirements and provides required data.Prepare, analyze, and present test results to systems engineering and other stakeholders for review and for regular milestone clearance.Qualifications:

B.S. or higher degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mechatronics, Embedded Systems, or related disciplines,4 years of work experience with perception verification and validationSystems engineering experience certifying safety-critical software across the full development cycleStrong reasoning skills for machine-learning results.Strong mathematical, written, and verbal communication skillsStrong Python skillsBonus Qualifications:

ADAS sensor or perception-system development experienceC/C++ development capabilityReal-time embedded system development

Compensation

There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $170,000 to $250,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
