office a few days a week. Our Legal & Compliance Team is seeking a highly motivated Head of Legal (Americas) to join our expanding legal team. This role will report to the Director of Legal and Compliance and will collaborate closely with our external legal ecosystem, authorities, SEON’s Sales, HR, and other teams on developing legal frameworks for new and innovative products and services. This person will have a wide range of responsibilities and will focus on both general in-house legal tasks and cutting-edge legal challenges. They will draft and negotiate a wide range of contracts; advise on legal risks, business strategies, and other issues around commercial transactions and general operations; and provide assistance in other legal areas. WHAT YOU’LL DO: Manage US workload for SEON Streamline more efficient Legal processes to ensure deadlines are met, all stakeholders are involved and to ensure transparency in legal projects Handle necessary customer meetings and review significant customer/partnership contracts Partner closely with RevOps and Marketing teams, Product, People and the Leadership teams on issues related to all internal matters, product development, and features Provide guidance and legal opinion during contract negotiations Anticipate and identify legal and regulatory risks and propose creative and effective solutions to address those risks Triage ad-hoc regulatory issues and downstream effects of the same Develop talk tracks/explanations regarding SEON’s role as a fraud prevention platform (including AML and chargeback processes), data processor (data privacy), etc., to outside parties Review products, features, platforms, and initiatives to provide practical legal and regulatory guidance in the US market while advancing business interests and ensuring an excellent merchant and customer experience Remain up-to-date on relevant industry, consumer protection, advertising, IP, and privacy laws and regulations, including, but not limited to iGaming, AML/CTF, KYC and ID verification
WHAT YOU’ll BRING: JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school or international equivalent At least three years experience in a law firm or in-house counsel experience Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California and/or Texas Previous experience as internal counsel for a tech start-up; preferably a FinTech A deep understanding of the US gaming market; state filings and gambling licenses Previous SaaS startup experience Experience working independently and cross-functionally Excellent collaboration skills to partner with tech and non-tech teams in providing legal advice with a creative, consultative approach Familiarity with legal issues associated with cloud computing and software as a service (SaaS) preferred; Ability to quickly learn new software applications and technologies and associated legal issues Highly disciplined with the ability to make independent decisions and work with limited supervision while excelling in a fast-paced and dynamic environment Ability to anticipate and mitigate friction points and take initiative to resolve challenges
