About Global Product Solutions: BlackRock's Global Product Solutions business (GPS) was formed in 2024 with a mission to innovate, curate and commercialize the full breadth of our investment platform to meet our clients' needs, wherever they are. GPS partners across the firm to lead iShares and drive the commercial priorities across all the investment businesses. We do this by innovating the next wave of products and solutions, accelerating iShares adoption, sharpening our focus on active, scaling private markets and our transition businesses, and driving focus on commercial priorities through product prioritization.
Role: This role is situated within the GPS business on the Investment Strategy team. The team helps clients to navigate financial markets and align their strategic and tactical asset allocation views with product implementation ideas, through regular client meetings, virtual and physical events, content, and internal forums.
Key components of the role will include: helping to set, evolve and commercialize the team's macro views; originating content ideas and partnering with other members of Investment and Product Strategy teams as well as stakeholders from across BlackRock to bring these ideas to fruition; engaging with clients in various forums - from 1-to-1 meetings through to speaking slots at flagship virtual and physical events - to discuss BlackRock's latest macro views, as well as clients' views and how these can be implemented through BlackRock products; actively participating in and presenting at internal forums and debates hosted by the Investment Strategy team, as well as those hosted by partner groups, including the BlackRock Investment Institute; and ensuring continual awareness of third party research, insights, and industry trends that can help to contextualize the Investment Strategy team's views.
The ideal candidate needs to be proficient in their knowledge of equity markets and macroeconomics, able to articulate macro and investment insights in the context of client challenges, as well as market and business drivers, and represent BlackRock's broad thought leadership views. The candidate needs to also be commercially minded, with a focus on placing client challenges and needs first and understanding how best to address them.
Key responsibilities include:
Investment thought leadership:
establish reputation as investment and market specialist within GPS and partners by contributing to the formulation of investment ideas and market narratives, based on proprietary research, insights from other BlackRock thought leaders/ investment professionals, and third-party sources. Client engagement:
present BlackRock's latest macro and investment views and insights to external clients, both retail and institutional, in a range of regular and ad hoc forums, from 1-to-1 updates through to flagship virtual and physical events. Analytics and Research:
interpret macro data inputs, build valuation models, analyze positioning data and industry trends to evolve investment views in the context of recent market sentiment. Sales & Distribution Engagement:
actively engage with relationship managers to understand client priorities/challenges, and to educate and equip Sales partners to represent the firm's investment views and insights to clients, in order to drive scale for the Investment Strategy function; engage with Marketing partners through an awareness and understanding of the latest product priorities and marketing campaigns, identifying opportunities for Investment Strategy to contribute to existing campaigns and establish new outlets for the team's insights. Work with Corporate Communications/PR to engage with the press on both reactive and proactive topics related to the investment landscape. Commercial acumen:
apply a commercial lens to macro and investment views in order to generate actionable insights that drive flows into focus products and product segments.
Qualifications and experience: Investment strategy, portfolio management, research or advisory experience, including minimum 4 years proven experience presenting to clients on market views/asset allocation. Deep industry and existing client relationships a plus. Proficiency in multi-asset portfolio construction, with an emphasis in active management, alternatives, and private markets a plus. Broad understanding of the fund landscape, including ETFs, mutual funds, interval funds, etc. Proficiency with Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters, FactSet or equivalent, and Microsoft Office. Collaborative team player with a demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships at all levels of an organization. Comfort with domestic travel across USA (when conditions permit) and with speaking at events in front of large audiences.
Compensation: For California only, the salary range for this position is $137,500 - $194,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including health care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits.
