Our work includes construction services for public works, water resources, wastewater treatment plants (WWTP), and site development. If you have skills and experience as a Hillman, Tailman, and in pipelaying for large commercial construction projects and want to take your career to the next level, this role will be a great fit. Your Responsibilities as a Tailman As a Tailman at Petticoat-Schmitt, you'll need a solid background working with a pipe crew as a Hillman and Tailman. Assisting the Pipelayer - You'll be helping in the hole, honing the pipe, checking the grade, and following other instructions to support the Pipelayer in laying the pipe. Training & Growing in the Trade - As a Tailman at Petticoat-Schmitt, you'll be receiving training constantly and will be expected to continue to grow in your knowledge and skills in pipelaying. Filling in for the Pipelayer - When the Pipelayer isn't around, you'll be able to step in to keep the work going. How to Know You'll Be a Great Fit This role isn't for just anyone. You have some pipe experience, and knowledge about rigging the pipe, strapping on slings, etc. You like the idea of learning and doing the work hands-on at the same time. Requirements for the Tailman Position at Petticoat-Schmitt: At least 6 months experience working as a Hillman and Tailman Must have own hard hat, steel-toed boots, safety vest, and orange shirt and wear for the interview Experience must be working with large-diameter pipes in commercial construction Must be willing and able to climb in and out of trenches and work 20 to 30' down in hole Must have reliable transportation and be willing to commute within a 50-mile radius around Jacksonville and surrounding areas, including counties of Nassau, Clay, Duval, and St. Johns Must be available to work overtime and weekends as needed Must be willing to undergo a background check Details About the Opportunity Petticoat-Schmitt offers an exciting and challenging work environment, competitive salaries, and benefits. Some Saturdays as necessary. We are off on Sundays. We plan on working 40-45 hours per week. Overtime is likely but not guaranteed. What we need from you: Pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen. Some of our clients require random drugs screens as well.
