Electrician I MR07 - Starting salary dependent on candidate's qualifications and experience Duties, skills and abilities; Under supervision, this individual performs general electrical work on electrical systems, facilities, appliances, and related electronic controls according to the National Electrical Code. They must be able to read blue prints, electrical schematic drawings, and will perform troubleshooting of electrical and Life Safety Systems. This individual will be responsible for ordering materials necessary to complete projects and must be able to plan ahead for work to be performed. They will perform demo work in a safe and timely manner. They will determine the correct route for installation of conduit raceway. They will cut, thread, bend, and install conduit and boxes of various sizes. They will pull wire and ties in electrical panels as necessary, install lighting of varies types, install electrical disconnects and hooks up equipment, install switches, outlets and breakers, install electronic control panels and devices as to control the sequence of operations on several systems throughout campus, and install transformers, motors and generators. This individual will perform preventive maintenance on equipment and circuits to check for proper operation, loose connections, overheating, tripping circuits, leaking insulation, arcing, alignment, lubrication, and vibration. Must be able to maintain a clean work area to prevent accidents. Must have the knowledge of National Electrical Code, have the ability to lift and pull heavy objects, and have the ability to operate different types of tools and equipment. Qualifications: Minimum/Required Qualifications: Valid Tennessee Driver's License High School Diploma or GED Applicant should have 3 to 4 years of experience or equivalent education in the field to include completion of trade school or apprenticeship. Experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis.
