Description SAIC is seeking a proven Windows Systems Administrator to join the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) Information Technology (IT) Modernization program and support the full range of Enterprise IT services to ARL’s research mission. This position is contingent upon contract award expected fall/winter 2024. The work is to be performed at the customer site in Adelphi, MD. ARL’s unique research mission, highly mobile workforce, and geographical disbursement of its staff, requires an innovative approach in the delivery of IT services in fulfilling the organization’s mission. ARL is the Army’s corporate laboratory, within the Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM). It’s diverse assortment of unique facilities and dedicated workforce make up the largest source of world-class integrated research and analysis in the US Army. ARL discovers, innovates, and transitions research to provide the best technologies for our Soldiers. Some of ARL’s focus areas include Biological and Biotechnology Sciences, Electromagnetic Spectrum Sciences, Energy Sciences, Humans in Complex Systems, Mechanical Sciences, Military Information Sciences, Network/Cyber/Computational Sciences, Photonics/Electronics/Quantum Sciences, Sciences of Extreme Materials, Terminal Effects, and Weapons Sciences. This position is your opportunity to utilize your skills and background as a Windows Systems Administrator and deliver support to the warfighting mission and cutting edge R&D for the US Army. Performs high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex operating systems, workstations and servers. Coordinates, directs and performs complex software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages. Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Continually monitors and tunes multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels. Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions of varying complexities. Ensures data/media recoverability by developing and implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations. Plans and implements the modernization of servers. Develops, implements and promotes standard operating procedures and schedules. Conducts hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines. Incumbent develops and implements new standards, policies and procedures. Incumbent in this job works closely with Network and Systems Analysts to help determine and develop the systems that will be implemented. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet outlined objectives. Work is reviewed by supervisor/lead to measure meeting objectives. Directs established guidelines, procedures and policies. PROBLEM COMPLEXITY: Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity where analysis of situations or data requires a review of the variety of factors. FREEDOM TO ACT: Works under general direction on routine work. May receive detailed instructions on new projects or assignments. Follows established procedures. Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy. Exercises judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. IMPACT: Contributes to completion of milestones associated with specific projects. Failure to achieve results or erroneous decisions or recommendations may cause delays in program schedules and may result in allocation of additional resources. LIASON: Primarily internal company contacts. Infrequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts on routine matters. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree and two (2) years of related experience; additional four (4) years experience in lieu of degree may be considered CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Must have an active Top Secret clearance CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT: Must have a Security certification Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors. SAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline.
