Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) has an exciting Summer Internship opportunity within the Analytics Center of Excellence (ACoE) - Data Science team where you'll use your predictive analytics knowledge to help the business capitalize on a new opportunity or solve a problem. Can we predict consumer behavior and adjust our products and services accordingly? Can we predict hospital readmissions and work differently with docs and hospitals on discharge practices? Can we predict use of specialty pharmacy drugs and adjust policy to improve patient outcomes? These are a few examples of the types of questions you might help us answer This Data Science Summer Internship opportunity will involve: Interpret analytical results using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation via statistical analysis to complex data mining Complete projects that are well documented and repeatable Write and publish progress reports, identify project milestones, and recommend needed modifications Work with business/technical resources to identify analytical requirements Participate in meetings and present in front of the group when necessary Complete any assignments given from the internship program Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned The Internship Program at BCBSM is designed to enhance the skills and abilities of young professionals as well as to identify and attract future talent for our organization. Interns will gain practical hands-on work experience as well as a solid understanding of the health insurance industry. Our program is an excellent way for interns to get a good start on their careers by working on meaningful projects, learning valuable skills, and networking with employees throughout our organization, which could potentially allow interns to build a future career at BCBSM. "Qualifications" REQUIRED: Current undergraduate or graduate student with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Interns must be enrolled in a four-year college/university or a Master's/PhD program for the duration of the internship. Effective verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical skills with the ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Excellent organizational skills to deal with multiple projects and priorities. Responsible for maintaining confidential information to the highest degree. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, overall technical aptitude. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
