Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Plumbing Design Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing plumbing systems for a variety of projects, including commercial, residential, and industrial buildings. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to create efficient, code-compliant designs that meet client requirements and project goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to quality. Key Responsibilities: System Design and Development: Design plumbing systems, including water supply, drainage, waste, vent, and stormwater systems. Perform calculations to size pipes, pumps, and other system components accurately. Prepare detailed construction drawings, specifications, and system layouts using CAD and BIM tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit). Project Collaboration: Work closely with architects, mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate plumbing systems into overall building designs. Attend design meetings to ensure alignment with project goals and resolve any coordination challenges. Review and incorporate feedback from project stakeholders and team members. Code Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure all plumbing designs comply with local, state, and federal codes and regulations. Conduct quality checks and peer reviews of designs to maintain high standards of accuracy and functionality. Stay updated on changes in plumbing codes, standards, and industry best practices. Sustainability and Innovation: Incorporate sustainable design principles into plumbing systems to promote water conservation and energy efficiency. Research and recommend innovative products and technologies to enhance system performance. Support LEED or other sustainability certifications by providing necessary documentation and system designs. Construction Support: Assist in the review of submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs during the construction phase. Provide technical support to contractors and address any design-related issues during installation. Conduct site visits to verify that installations align with design intent and project specifications. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, or a related field. Experience: 3-7 years of experience in plumbing design for buildings or related systems. Experience working on a variety of projects (commercial, residential, or industrial) is preferred. Skills: Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and plumbing-specific calculation tools (e.g., Elite, HASS, or similar). Strong understanding of plumbing codes, standards (e.g., IPC, UPC, ASPE), and best practices. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Certifications: EIT or PE license is preferred. CPD (Certified Plumbing Designer) certification is a plus.
