Our team in Group Trucks Purchasing North America is an organization that is supporting Volvo Trucks North America and Mack brands on the purchasing related activities both on automotive and indirect purchasing.

Supply Network Resiliency (SNR) is a department within Volvo Group Trucks Purchasing with responsibility for volume and supplier capacity management, supply partner development and risk and crisis management. The team works cross functionally to enable the best performance from our supply partners to ensure customer success. We are leading a digital transformation in our department to monitor and develop our supply partners. This will further enable us to have full transparency and proactive visibility of risks during end-to-end processes.

What We Are Looking For

The Volvo Group is seeking a strategic and dynamic leader for the role of Head of Supply Network Resiliency (SNR). This is a key Director level leadership position ensuring the stability and adaptability of our supply network for North America. This role involves the cross-functional coordination of activities with manufacturing, technology, suppliers, several purchasing functions, and the truck brands. The Head of SNR needs to be able to function in dynamic and complex scenarios, establishing the needed connections to ensure the best outcomes.

What You Will Be Doing

In the role of Head of Supply Network Resiliency for Volvo Group Purchasing North America, you will lead a team of Managers dedicated to Supply Network Development and Risk & Crisis Management. This position will collaborate with strategic and operational lines, cross-functional stakeholders, and our supply network to ensure end-to-end readiness.

This person will be located in Greensboro, NC, and will report to the Head of Supply Network Resiliency and Project Management North America (VP).

Main responsibilities will include:

Lead a Department: Manage and develop a department of supply chain professionals focused on supply network development, risk and crisis management, and supplier capacity

Crisis Management: Oversee a robust crisis governance to respond effectively to supply chain disruptions caused by unforeseen events, such as natural disasters, geopolitical risks, and supplier issues

Supplier Capacity: Lead a team that conducts and reports out to senior leadership on supplier capacity and performance, identifying potential risks and bottlenecks in our supply network

Risk Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams/departments to assess supply chain vulnerabilities, establish early warning tools/systems, and ensure proper mitigation activities

Strategic Planning: Work closely with purchasing leaders, logistics, and manufacturing teams to develop and implement long-term strategies to ensure a resilient supply network

Continuous Improvement: Drive CI initiatives to strengthen supply chain flexibility and adaptability

Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with senior leadership and supply partners to foster collaboration and communication

Reporting & Communications: Regular updates to senior leadership on the health of our supply network, ongoing risks, and mitigation plans

Competence and Experience

University degree in Engineering/Technology, Business Administration, Supply Chain, and/or related field

10+ years of relevant purchasing, project management, crisis management, operations, or quality experience coming from the automotive/heavy trucking/construction equipment, or aerospace industries

Demonstrated proficiency in transformational leadership skills such as: ability to execute in a global matrix organization, adept problem solver with solid judgment, ability to operate with ambiguity, ability to influence

Demonstrated proficiency in leading leaders such as: coaching and mentoring, building a high-performing department with high morale, providing direct and actionable feedback, and providing opportunities for personal and professional development and growth

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

Exceptional decision-making ability

Proven ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, highly visible, and ever-changing environment with strict deadlines and tight timelines for delivery

Language Skills: Proficiency in English is required, Spanish language skills are a plus but not mandatory

Travel Requirements: The role could require up to 30-40% travel to various locations, both domestically and internationally
