President—Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools (FLPS)
The President serves as the organization’s chief executive officer and is responsible for fulfilling the Foundation’s mission and philanthropic impact within the community. The FLPS Board of Directors is seeking a visionary leader, strategic thinker, and connector who can cultivate a culture of innovation, philanthropy, and growth. The President is responsible for leading the organization’s strategic, operational, and fundraising efforts while managing internal teams and external partnerships.
Fundraising, Donor Relations & Stewardship
Develop and implement an ongoing, comprehensive fundraising plan that includes major gifts, annual giving, corporate partnerships, planned giving, and grant opportunities.
Build and maintain strong relationships with donors and prospects, focusing on cultivation and stewardship strategies to enhance donor engagement and retention.
Oversee the expansion of the major gifts program, identifying high-net-worth individuals, corporations, and foundations for significant contributions.
Lead capital and special campaigns, coordinating internal resources and external support to achieve ambitious fundraising goals.
Community Engagement
Act as a Foundation spokesperson, actively participating in community outreach initiatives to strengthen the Foundation’s philanthropic network.
Lead efforts to engage a diverse group of stakeholders—including donors, businesses, school district administrators, civic leaders, and community partners—to expand the Foundation’s reach and influence.
Organizational Leadership & Team Development
Lead, mentor, and develop the Foundation team, fostering a collaborative culture and goal-driven environment.
Establish systems for cross-departmental collaboration to ensure efforts align with the Foundation’s overall mission and goals.
Identify and promote professional growth and continuous learning opportunities.
Supervise employee performance and regularly conduct performance reviews.
Lincoln Public Schools (LPS) District
Ensure alignment between Foundation initiatives and LPS priorities to effectively address the district’s evolving needs.
Collaborate with LPS administrators and the Lincoln Board of Education to allocate philanthropic resources to meet the needs of the community.
FLPS Board of Directors (Board)
Serve as the primary liaison between the Foundation and the Board, ensuring timely communication and reporting.
Lead strategic planning efforts in collaboration with the Board, setting clear goals for the long-term vision of the Foundation.
Engage Board members and committees through ongoing support and strengthen involvement.
Facilitate and support Board meetings while providing research, data, and insights to inform decision making and monitor progress on strategic objectives.
Resource Management & Operational Oversight
Oversee the Foundation’s operations, annual budget, and asset management.
Ensure responsible stewardship of funds and adherence to donor intent.
Oversee the management of donor and financial data, ensuring integrity in reporting and compliance with best practices for nonprofit organizations.
Monitor and evaluate the Foundation’s investment strategies to ensure financial sustainability and growth.
Provide timely and accurate reporting to the Board and necessary partners on financial performance.
Regularly evaluate and update policies and bylaws in collaboration with the Board.
Ensure the Foundation adheres to all legal and regulatory requirements, maintaining its 501(c)(3) status and conducting annual audits.
Qualifications
5+ years of professional experience in fundraising, development, or nonprofit leadership with substantial experience in senior management roles.
Proven track record of developing and executing successful fundraising strategies that have significantly grown an organization’s assets.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire teams, engage diverse stakeholders, and cultivate donor relationships.
Experience working closely with a Board of Directors and leading cross-functional teams.
Strong understanding of nonprofit financial management including the annual budget, investment management, and grant distribution.
Proficiency with CRM database management (Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, or similar) to track donor activities, manage data integrity, and analyze trends.
Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred.
