Location: South Portland, Maine Position Summary:

The primary purpose of your position is to identify the Business Development opportunities throughout the First Atlantic Healthcare markets. The Director of Admissions and Business Development will implement strategies to foster relationships with community partners with the goal of First Atlantic Healthcare being a preferred provider. The Director will assess the admissions team daily and direct resources to maximize overall census growth and mix targets; support community relations; and collaborate on marketing efforts. This position will positively contribute to the philosophy and goals of the organization, i.e., mission, values, and a person-centered approach. Essential Functions: Works with administrative staff to plan, develop and implement facility and system marketing strategies. Utilize appropriate sales/marketing techniques (i.e., public speaking, community workshops, cold calling, facility events, media coverage, etc.). Referral Generation: High volume referral management, driving appropriate referrals, meeting growth targets, and establishing strong market acceptance. Identify emerging markets and market shifts while being fully aware of competition status. Establish excellent relationships with referral sources and community members. Make regular visits to area hospitals to inquire about referrals and build relationships. Represent the facilities at vendor fairs, expos, and functions related to marketing and sales activities. Direct the daily operations of the admission team, conduct a daily admission call with the admissions team and the center leaders. Review census targets, open beds, planned discharges, number of referrals, and admissions. Organize the admissions team in a manner that encourages cross coverage and collaboration of all team members to accommodate increased referral volume and vacancies that occur with the team. Attend meetings with community partners and represent First Atlantic Healthcare with a focus on customer service to our community partners, upholding the First Atlantic mission and values. Complete training of all members of the admissions team. They will develop training checklists for both the Admissions Liaisons and the Admissions Assistants. Monitor and encourage growth of the team members through ongoing education and expanding their knowledge in the areas of marketing, customer service, and referral management. The Director will be proficient in all processes involving marketing and admissions, they will review the processes frequently with intent to improve efficiency and proficiency, keeping customer service as the primary goal. Routinely collaborate with the Operations Team regarding any barriers to admissions. Understand the impact of reimbursement for various payer sources including, but not limited to, Medicare, Maine Care, and Managed Care. Collaborate with supervisor regarding written policies and procedures associated with admissions and associated functions. Knowledge, Skills & Ability: Three to five years of clinical, marketing/community relations, customer service, or case management experience. Organize and manage competing priorities. Write in a legible and understandable manner. Nimbly operate basic office machines and computer software. Tactfully work with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public. Willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel. Seek out new methods and principles and incorporate them into existing practices. Physical and Other Requirements: Utilize a computer six to eight hours daily. Minimal lifting, bending, reaching. Travel throughout the state of Maine and possess a valid active driver’s license. Speak, read, and write primarily in the English language.
