Under general supervision, the 7318 Electronic Maintenance Technician performs electronic work of varying complexity in all areas of the Airport. Essential Functions: Performs preventive maintenance and troubleshoots problems with closed circuit television equipment, electronic and electromechanical equipment used in security systems, public address systems, and fire alarms. Performs design and assembly work on digital electronic and electromechanical equipment using specialized test equipment. Programs databases and configures new equipment to integrate with the existing system. Specifies parts and equipment needed to maintain and repair equipment. Operates a variety of test equipment, computers, power tools, and other specialized equipment. Assists engineering staff and craft workers in developing specifications for new equipment and for the replacement/upgrade of existing equipment. Nature of Work: Incumbents are required to work with potentially hazardous equipment and materials, including high voltages, chemicals, and batteries, and to lift heavy weights. May be required to work in confined spaces or dark and damp locations where Uninterruptible Power Supplies (U.P.S’s), variable frequency drives (V.F.D’s), and other equipment are located. Incumbents may also be required to work on ladders and lifts for long periods of time. Minimum Qualifications: Completion of a two (2) year or equivalent program in electronics from a recognized academic, trade, or technical institution; or completion of a military training program in electronics. Three (3) years of verifiable journey-level industrial or institutional electronic experience performing installation, instrumentation calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of electronic systems and related electrical components and electronic sub-systems to the electronic component level. Possession of a valid California driver’s license. Desirable Qualifications: At least two (2) years’ experience working with electronic systems tied to servers and networks. At least three (3) years of journey-level experience in programming, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting enterprise-level installations of Access Control, Fire Alarm, and/or CCTV systems. Work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Work well with others and, at times, independently. Proactive, solution-oriented, self-reliant. Good oral communication skills. Applicants must meet the minimum qualification by the final filing date unless otherwise noted.
