You’ll provide the tools, support, training, and recognition that volunteers deserve while leading with a data-driven approach to improve retention and satisfaction. By fostering a culture of inclusivity and community, you’ll help ensure the Girl Scout experience thrives for girls, families, and volunteers alike.
What You’ll Do
Lead volunteer empowerment and retention efforts, ensuring that at least 75% of volunteers are engaged and satisfied.
Work closely with the CEO and other leaders to implement strategic initiatives that elevate the volunteer experience and align with the council's mission.
Oversee the development and execution of policies and procedures that support a high-quality volunteer experience, ensuring that volunteers feel valued and equipped.
Use data insights to continually improve volunteer engagement and training opportunities, streamline processes, and remove participation barriers.
Mediate conflicts and support volunteers, staff, and girls to maintain a positive and inclusive environment.
Represent Girl Scouts in the community, building relationships and advocating for volunteer priorities.
Collaborate with the Fund Development team to support philanthropic efforts and strengthen the organization's culture of giving.

13 years of total relevant education and experience, including senior management, strategic planning, HR fundamentals, conflict resolution, data and systems analysis, and budget oversight.
Five (5) years of experience supervising teams of at least four (4) staff.
Experience in volunteer management and training.
Experience in Girl Scouting is highly preferred.
Strategic Vision: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across functions to achieve growth goals.
Analytical Skills: Ability to translate operational concepts into measurable results and design meaningful data analytics efforts. Use consumer behavior analytics to drive ROI.
Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead transformations and inspire team buy-in, establishing yourself as a peer and trusted advisor with all constituency groups.
Change Management: Ability to guide counterparts through difficult transitions to new processes, technologies, workflows, or situations.
Strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and justice.
Motivation/Drive: Be a self-starter with a desire for continuous learning, taking on new challenges, and creating innovative solutions.
Able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, some weekends, and occasional overnight trips.
Reliable transportation and ability to travel to meetings and events across Oregon and Southwest Washington.
Bilingual (English/Spanish), preferred.
The Details
Compensation
– Exempt, starting at $108,750 to $130,500 per year, depending on qualifications. Plus, $2,600 per year for Spanish language skills at a conversational level or higher.

Hours
–
Full-time, business hours, with some flexibility. This role is expected to be actively engaged in the community, including attending events and meetings in the evenings and on weekends.
Location
–
Regular job duties can be performed remotely (if you meet our remote work requirements), in any of our Service Centers throughout Oregon, or in a hybrid setting, based on your preference. You must live in Oregon or Southwest Washington. This role requires frequent travel, up to 50% of the time, to attend out-of-office events, meetings, conferences, networking, training, etc.,
including overnight and long-distance travel. All staff are required to participate in in-person meetings, events, work assignments, and retreats, the frequency and location of which is determined by business needs.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Top-level supervision of departments and staff in the Volunteer Experience division, including Volunteer Support, Customer Support, Data, and Volunteer Learning.
Duties/Responsibilities
Strategic leadership
Partner with the CEO and executive leaders to develop high-level initiatives that enhance volunteer engagement and align with strategic objectives.
Oversee the execution of strategic goals, working closely with cross-functional teams to drive results and monitor KPIs.
Prepare accurate and timely analyses that capture and communicate results, variances, and performance trends.
Membership growth & retention
Lead volunteer retention efforts and work collaboratively to ensure retention goals are met every year.
Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and practices that support a high-quality volunteer experience and empower volunteers to provide an excellent Girl Scout experience to youth.
Support membership recruitment initiatives with the Community Engagement team.
Mission delivery & an exceptional Girl Scout experience
Collaborate with the Girl Scout Experience team to ensure consistent, high-quality volunteer delivery of the Girl Scouts Leadership Experience.
Oversee the council's volunteer experience functions, using data-driven insights to improve processes, identify gaps, and take actions that elevate volunteer engagement.
Listen to volunteers and refine or develop processes that eliminate participation barriers, simplify processes and improve the volunteer experience.
Mediate conflicts as they escalate, thoughtfully supporting staff, volunteers, and girls along the way.
Philanthropy
Work deliberately to steward a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization.
Collaborate with the Fund Development team on philanthropic efforts, including grants, partnerships, and fundraising events.

Publicly represent the council, building and nurturing relationships with members, key volunteers, Service Units, and partner organizations to foster engagement and a culture of service.

Partner with leaders to foster a culture that promotes high achievement, satisfaction, and strong inter-departmental relationships.
Support employee growth through coaching, mentoring, and training while ensuring accountability and regularly recognizing accomplishments.
Financial and compliance stewardship
Oversee budget development and management for areas of responsibility, ensuring revenue targets are achieved.
Lead efforts to ensure that best practices are utilized and that resources are leveraged and deployed in the most effective way to accomplish the council’s goals.
Ensure that all council operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws, as well as Girl Scouts of the USA and GSOSW policies.
Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures that reduce risks to the council and reduce conflict.
