Director/VP of Operations
The Director/VP of Operations is responsible for overseeing daily operations and administrative functions for multiple fleet locations. This role involves making strategic recommendations to improve productivity, quality, and safety, ensuring the efficient delivery of services. The Director/VP ensures compliance with company policies and procedures while striving to enhance the company’s competitive edge and profitability. The role also involves collaborating with account teams, drivers, customers, and brokers to drive operational success, grow revenue, and execute fleet operations effectively.
Director/VP of Operations Key Responsibilities:
Maintain trucking standards, safety, and equipment through cost-effective practices to maximize productivity.
Oversee asset fleet operations, including pricing, vendor negotiations, dispatching, maintenance, load planning, and cost control.
Manage driver recruitment, development, and overall driver relations.
Provide leadership in troubleshooting and resolving fleet-related issues.
Manage large shipping projects and maintain strong customer relationships.
Lead and guide action plans, ensuring timely and proactive execution.
Communicate financial, operational, and administrative issues for prompt resolution.
Advise leadership on any concerns regarding labor, safety, security, or customer relations.
Meet key performance indicators (KPIs) in transportation and ensure customer satisfaction.
Director/VP of Operations Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Experience with P&L responsibilities for a division or company.
5+ years of leadership experience in trucking, transportation, or logistics.
Expertise in quoting, pricing, and managing Heavy Haul/OD projects and shipments.
Proven operational leadership experience within logistics, with a focus on trucking and heavy haul operations.
Strong understanding of transportation management systems.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to adapt to dynamic environments and shifting business priorities.
Willingness to travel frequently for business purposes.
Proficiency in Google Suite.
Excellent organizational, time management, and judgment skills.
Strong safety awareness and customer-oriented mindset.
