Opening Date: 11 October 2024 Closing Date: Until Filled Work Schedule: Intermittent (0-19 hrs/wk) Position: Child Development Center Director Salary: $72,000 + DOE Annually Who May Apply: All Sources Location: Kodiak, AK – Child Development Center DUTIES:
This position serves as the director of the U.S. Coast Guard Child Development (CDC) at Base Kodiak and functions as the focal point for the child development services and family childcare programs. Services may include infant care, toddler care, preschool programs, after-school care, hourly care, and oversight of the in-home family childcare program. The CDC Director works under local administrative supervision and under the technical program policy and guidance provided by the Coast Guard Headquarters Health, Safety, and Work Life (HSWL) program manager. The CDC at Base Kodiak is considered a large Coast Guard CDC program with over 100 children enrolled and 28 staff members in support of the program. Management is complicated by the need to comply with all applicable Federal, State, accreditation agency, and Local regulations. The responsibility and critical nature of maintaining the health and safety of children and responding to emergencies adds to the complexity of the position. The success of the CDC requires ongoing interpretation of program developments, children’s and parents’ needs, a wide range of decisions regarding program planning, and considerable innovation in developing or refining methods and techniques to provide continually improving child development services. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in child development or early childhood education or a combination of education and experience. Experience in managing an entire cycle of operation of an early childhood program, including budgeting, facility management, supply management, program development, implementation, selection, training, and supervision of personnel, and curriculum oversight. Current certification in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation is required. A valid driver’s license and the ability to drive an automobile is required. HOW TO APPLY:
