Position Title: Executive Director
Location: Kentucky, USA
Reports To:
Board of Directors and the state of Kentucky DDID (Division of Developmental & Intellectual Disabilities) regulatory bodies.
Position Summary:
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall management and operation of the organization, ensuring compliance with Kentucky state regulations and standards. This role involves strategic planning, staff management, financial oversight, and ensuring high-quality services and care. The position is flexible, with the potential to be part-time, and will play a crucial role in the startup phase of the agency.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
Provide visionary leadership to the organization, fostering a positive and inclusive culture.
Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve the organization’s mission and goals.
Ensure compliance with all applicable state regulations, including those set by the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services and other relevant bodies.
Lead the startup phase of the agency, including establishing operational procedures and building foundational programs.
Program Development and Oversight:
Oversee the development and implementation of programs and services that meet the needs of the community.
Ensure that all programs comply with state regulations and best practices.
Regularly evaluate program effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.
Staff Management:
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff, ensuring they are qualified and adequately trained.
Foster a supportive and collaborative work environment.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing professional development opportunities.
Financial Management:
Develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring financial stability and sustainability.
Oversee financial operations, including accounting, payroll, and financial reporting.
Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
Ensure the organization meets all state licensing and certification requirements.
Implement and maintain quality assurance programs to ensure high standards of service.
Address and resolve any compliance issues promptly.
Community Relations and Advocacy:
Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization, representing it to the community, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, families, and advocacy groups.
Advocate for the needs and rights of the individuals served by the organization.
Board Relations:
Work closely with the Board of Directors to develop and implement organizational policies and strategies.
Provide regular updates to the Board on the organization’s performance and strategic initiatives.
Assist the Board in fundraising and development efforts.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, public administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred), OR be a Registered Nurse currently licensed by the state of Kentucky.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the field of intellectual or developmental disabilities and administrative experience in an organization serving individuals with an intellectual or developmental disability.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role within a similar organization.
Comprehensive knowledge of Kentucky state regulations and standards for relevant services.
Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and financial reporting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated and verifiable ability to lead and manage a diverse team.
Commitment to the mission and values of the organization.
Successful completion of required background checks, 5 panel drug testing, and any other mandated screenings.
Completion of state-required training programs and certifications in a timely manner.

Working Conditions:
Flexible position with the potential to make your own hours.
Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
On-call availability for emergencies.
Travel within the state may be required.
