Learn more about the benefits of working at UC Brief Summary of Job Duties: The Carsey-Wolf Center Assistant Director includes four major job functions: publicity, public event curation and coordination, program administration, and theater operations. Responsibilities include: Development of publicity materials for public-facing academic events, including website content, social media, email marketing, print advertising, and writing press releases. Serving as a member of the Center's programming team to create and present events at the Pollock Theater. Assisting the Director and Associate Director in administrative tasks supporting the Center's academic programs, including its undergraduate and graduate programs, its research awards, and its publishing initiatives. Assisting the Pollock Theater Manager in coordination of daily theater operations, including public events in the evenings and on occasional weekends. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in media-related area and / or equivalent experience / training. 1-3 years of event coordination and/or conference organization experience. 1-3 years of supervisory experience. 1-3 years of social media and publicity experience. Excellent analytical written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively and courteously with colleagues, partners and the public. Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving, identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance. Preferred Qualifications: Ability to embrace and articulate the values that make UC Santa Barbara distinctive, and develop expert knowledge of UC Santa Barbara's achievements, mission, objectives, and issues of concern for both campus and higher education. Publicity responsibilities include: development of publicity materials, including website content, social media, email marketing, print advertising, and writing press releases in collaboration when appropriate with the Department of Film and Media Studies, the Public Affairs Office, the Development Office, and Alumni Affairs. Responsible for the online presence of the Carsey-Wolf Center and the Pollock Theater across multiple platforms. Writes and posts content for social and print media and manages feedback on-line. Works with graphic design professionals to create and schedule the production of printed materials and on-line postings. Develops pre- and post-event written content for website, social media and archiving. Establish relationships with local publications to promote Center and Pollock events, including research, publishing and public programs. Researches, analyzes, monitors, and evaluate publicity efforts for effectiveness, and reports results. Ensures timeliness of publicity strategies, meets deadlines in posting advertisements, press releases, and continuously manages on-line communication. Event Curation and Coordination (25%)

Serves as a member of the CWC programming team, which includes the Director of the CWC, Associate Director of the CWC and the Pollock Theater Manager. Programs individual and series events for the Pollock Theater. Coordinates logistical details for Carsey-Wolf Center and Pollock events, including the preparation of cost estimates. Assists in coordinating the Carsey-Wolf Center's annual conference. Works with the Administrative Assistant and the Pollock Theater Manager to prepare quarterly budgets and schedules. Orchestrates film print and DCP traffic. Program Coordination (25%)

Assists the Director and Associate Director in administrative tasks supporting the Center's academic programs, including its undergraduate and graduate programs, its research awards, and its publishing initiatives. Theater Operations (25%) : Assists the Pollock Theater Manager in managing events and providing technical support in the Pollock Theater. Assists with scheduling and supervising student staff members, overseeing the operation of audio/visual equipment, facilitating relations with patrons and VIP guests, providing for the safety of patrons and guests, and troubleshooting operations during night and weekend events.
