Position: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Hastings, Michigan
Employment Type: Full Time
Position Summary (Mission):We are seeking a skilled and motivated Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods aligned with product specifications and quality standards. Your mission will be to enhance production efficiency, address process challenges, and lead new product launches. You will be instrumental in process improvement, project management, and employee training, ensuring cohesive teamwork across manufacturing departments.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Duties include but are not limited to:
Production Support: Assist the Production department with equipment and process issues to maintain operational efficiency. New Product Launches: Support the development of new products by managing equipment builds, AQPD, and validation processes. Process Development: Design and develop manufacturing processes and equipment for new products. Capital Equipment Justification: Provide comprehensive justifications for capital equipment purchases. Continuous Improvement: Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance OEE and process CPK. Production Methods Enhancement: Improve production methods, including layouts, production flow, equipment, and metal removal processes. Performance Measurement: Track and work to improve process performance through key metrics. Quality Concerns: Address and resolve customer quality concerns through root cause analysis. Documentation Updates: Update routings and Bill of Materials to reflect product specifications and standards. Customer Presentations: Conduct detailed presentations to customers. Safety Promotion: Foster a culture of workplace safety and ensure compliance with OSHA and TS requirements. Vendor Relationships: Build and maintain constructive relationships with vendors, contractors, consultants, and governmental agencies. Budget Management: Meet budgetary goals for the department. Team Collaboration: Work with peers, superiors, and subordinates to ensure effective department operations and execution of plans. Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned.
Education, Skills & Experience Required:
Guiding Principles: Exhibit Respect, Dedication, Integrity, Teamwork, and Positivity in all interactions. Engine Competency: Prior engine experience is advantageous. Technical Proficiency: Skilled in MS Office, Project Management, 2D & 3D CAM. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or related field), plus MS or MBA. Experience: 10-15 years in process and industrial automation and controls. Preferred Knowledge: Project Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively. Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication with all organizational levels. Technical Writing: Proficient in writing detailed machine specifications and developing work standards. Analytical Skills: Strong statistical analysis and problem-solving abilities. Layout and Simulation: Experience with plant and work cell layout, process simulation, and modeling. Cost Savings: Demonstrated ability to conceive and implement cost-saving and capital investment projects.
Work Environment:This role operates in both office and shop environments. You may encounter moving mechanical parts and high noise levels. Standard office equipment is used, and you will need to interact with production area employees.
Physical Demands:The role involves lifting files, standing or sitting as needed, and walking on level surfaces. Occasionally, you may lift up to 75 pounds and perform activities such as reaching, bending, and stooping.

- CNC or CAD/CAM programming (Fanuc CNC programming is a plus).
- Process monitoring and control, data collection (Dashboard).
- Knowledge of CNC machinery.
- Familiarity with Plasma Spray molybdenum.
