Non-Profit Accounting Supervisor Columbus, OH

Our client is a non-profit organization with an easy-going environment and a family-oriented culture. They are seeking a skilled Accountant to join their finance team as the Accounting Supervisor. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations and leadership of the finance/accounting team. This person would be reporting to the CFO and would be responsible for three (3) direct reports.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee and manage all aspects of the finance department, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all financial operations

Lead and optimize the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting

Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure regulatory compliance

Manage and mentor a team of three finance professionals, fostering their professional growth and ensuring high-quality work output

Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with labor laws and regulations

Provide comprehensive support during internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and responses to auditor inquiries

Perform and review complex account reconciliations, ensuring the integrity of financial data

Manage the general ledger, including review and approval of journal entries

Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts, providing insights to support strategic decision-making

Collaborate with department heads to develop and monitor budgets, identifying areas for cost savings and operational efficiency

Oversee cash management and treasury functions, including cash flow forecasting and management of banking relationships

Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and reporting requirements

Implement and maintain robust financial systems and processes, leveraging technology to improve efficiency and accuracy

Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support organizational growth and sustainability initiatives

Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives as needed, offering financial expertise and guidance

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)

Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience

Proficiency in accounting software

Strong Excel skills, including experience with pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions

Team player with excellent communication skills

Supervisory experience is a plus
