Position Overview:
The Athens Rock Lobsters are looking to hire a Mascot Performer for the 2024-2025 home season. The Rock Lobsters are searching for an energetic and passionate person who can bring our mascot to life and interact with the fans in a positive manner at Akins Ford Arena and potentially at events beyond games. The mascot will play a major role in the production of the show and will help maintain a lively and engaging atmosphere at all Rock Lobsters home games.
Responsibilities •Maintain the integrity of the mascot costume and props, including cleaning. •Preserve the identity of the mascot without deviating from the established character while interacting with fans, staff, etc. •Meet and greet fans and be a part of promotional events within the game. •Be present for photo opportunities and encourage crowd participation. •Represent the Rock Lobsters in a professional and respectful manner. •Follow directions from the Director of Game Operations and other leading staff. •Ability to carry and work in the costume for longer periods of time, 30 to 45 minutes at a time •Able to work in a variety of different physical positions including sitting, standing, dancing, potentially driving/riding a vehicle.
Qualifications Ability to ice skate is preferable. High energy and enthusiasm to keep entertainment levels high. Ability to work well with a team and collaborate with others. Understanding and performing non-verbal communication signals to use with the mascot handler and fans. Fan-friendly, outgoing individual with a dynamic, personable, and fun personality. Good physical condition to be able to lift and wear the costume. Flexible schedule must be able to work all home games, weekends, nights, as well as select community and partnership events. Previous mascot performance experience is a plus, but not required. Knowledge of hockey is also a plus. Commitment to the organization's values of respect and to be a team player.
