Spinal Cord Injury/Disorder Physiatrist Opportunity-Historic Bluff City

The Memphis VA Medical Center, Polytrauma Clinic is seeking a Physical Med and Rehab Physiatrist with Spinal Cord Injury/Disorder experience. The medical center consists of one main campus, which includes a sixty-bed Spinal Cord Injury Unit, a womens health clinic, and ten community-based outpatient clinics (CBOC). It is a tertiary care facility classified as a Clinical Referral Level 1 Facility and one of the most complex medical centers in the VA system. It is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology, as well as extensive education and research programs. Comprehensive primary, secondary, and tertiary health care is provided in areas of primary care, general cardiovascular, neurological surgery, psychiatry, pain management, physical medicine and rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, neurology, oncology, rheumatology, geriatrics, optometry, and dentistry. Services are available to more than 200,000 Veterans living in a fifty-three-county, tri-state area (Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi).
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment or consultative services to patients in need of SCI care
- Provides primary and specialty care to SCI patients in accordance with VHA directives
- Provides inpatient and outpatient services
- Provides oversight to mid-level providers in the SCI service as requested
- Provides consultative services for SCI patients and new referrals
- Participates in on-call rotation (includes after hours, weekends, holidays)
- Participates in ongoing educational activities for the SCI Clinic
- Serves on service and/or facility level committees, including performance improvement
- Contributes to compliance for performance measures and standards for accreditation
Requirements:
- Board Eligible/Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
- Full and unrestricted license from ANY US State or territory
- Board Eligible/Board Certified in Spinal Cord Injury Medicine (SCIM)
- Two years of experience in Spinal Cord Injury Disorder
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Be proficient in the written and spoken English language
